I think it actually IS the definition of 'impressive as fuck'. I mean, I watched my 1SG quick draw his 9mm and shoot an Iraqi guy right through the hand at 25+ yards because he was holding what looked like a pistol (was a flashlight)...and I thought that was impressive as fuck!

I think what a lot of people--especially those 18 downvotes--are failing to appreciate is not just the love this guy has for the material, but that he's not just covering the guitar. He's also doing an amazing job of playing the extremely disparate drum track from the song; if you've ever heard Adam discuss Danny's beats, you would appreciate this even more, considering Danny often can play in four different time signatures at once.

  • @davis8565

***** I completely agree the level that this music is composed at a level above everything else. Some of the most complicated percussion parts people don't realize Danny is a math freak and uses it in his music. Obviously the people that gave the thumbs down just listen to music and aren't musicians. Ernesto = Awesome

I'm reaching up and reaching out I'm reaching for the random or whatever will bewilder me whatever will bewilder me. Steven Stinson I wouldn't call "Lateralus" hard rock. It's definitely less shreddy than typical metal and lacks the usually-defining fast tempos (depending on the subgenre of metal in question), but its funky time signatures and overall more classical-music-like nontraditional structure put it pretty squarely in the realm of metal rather than rock. There's quite a lot of more contemplative metal out there with these prog flavors rather than heavier ones (although Tool and Porcupine Tree definitely make most of the best of it.)

Just my own biased category. When a band has such an incredibly unique sound, typically people just butcher them. Making a song sound worse and not enhance it. Pink Floyd and Tool are in that category for me. To me some select bands ARE different from other bands because they are not generic. What? I'm passionate! Let me have my biases... :-P

This man is someone to pay attention to. I have played the guitar and most stringed instruments since I was five years old. including the piano, bass, viola, stand up bass, and chello. I am now 37. he has accomplished what ive been searching for for quite some time. he can use the guitar as a second language. I will learn his style and use it to influence my own technique as should all musicians

My favorite song, but it has never brought tears to my eyes until your cover today. That one part when the intensity was stilled: staccato quadruplet bass string and the ever so light singing as you dance around the melody (I embrace my desire to...) was absolutely beautiful. I closed my eyes and I was there. Your music moves, Ernesto.
