    Thanks Eric - our trellises are made from Reo mesh, it comes in these pre-cut lengths and sizes. You should be able to get it from your local garden supplies. You don't need to pre-bend, it's simply a matter of just ramming it into your soil, you'll need two people for the job 💚

    Absolutely love to watch and be inspired. I am working my way through all of your videos. Do you have any trombonchino recipes? I am going to do your choke stir fry this evening.

    Thank you Veronica! Your feedback means a lot to us. If you are eating tromboncino green, then our favourite way to eat it is to thinly slice on an angle and stir fry with garlic and a little soy sauce, in patties or in soups - it can be used in place of any recipe that needs zucchini. If eating tromboncino when it turns orange, as a pumpkin then use in place of all pumpkin recipes but may need a bit of added sugar as it's not quite as sweet as pumpkins. Hope you enjoy the choko stir fry! 💚💚

    Love your work and this format - I read your article in the organic gardener magazine. I’ve recently bought my first house, had my first baby and can’t wait to put these garden ideas in place! Picking up a worm farm today (would you think about doing a video on how you add compost or worm casting to your garden?) ✨🌻🌱I hope many people find inspiration from you, and change the way we think about food production and help our planet

    Thanks so much Brianna! Glad you enjoyed the video & article. We first started our garden just after we had our daughter and moved into this new place. It's a very exciting time for you! Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely show how we use worm castings, and most of our compost is done on site rather than from our compost bins, but I'll do a video talking about some of these techniques. If you haven't already, don't forget to check out our hot tips for worm farming success melbournefoodforest.com.au/2021/07/06/tips-for-worm-farming/, and we will soon have a video out showing you how to get your worm farm started and fill it using free & sustainable materials. I really hope so too that we can make the world a little greener and encourage more gardeners to grow food 💚

    The main thing we do with the fruit is make jam and chutney. Different plants will taste better/worse for fresh eating - one variety we tasted was barely palatable while another was really delicious straight off the bush! We're also experimenting with grafting onto it - will have a video up shortly about our attempts to graft tomato and eggplant on it to create a year-round tomato and eggplant tree! 💚

    @@MelbourneFoodforest thanks for sharing your experience and I am so there for the grafting stuff. I sourced material for tasting but also a native vigorous rootstock to graft other solanaceous species on to. Tamarillos are the ones I'm most keen to try grafting on them.

    Sorry I have another question! I read somewhere you use bush mulch on the ground and for the pathways, do you put weed mat under that to keep the weeds out? You don't seem to have any grass and the area I plan on working with is currently covered in grass, I'm always a little hesitant to use weed mat.

  • @MelbourneFoodforest

    @MelbourneFoodforest

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi no we don't use weed mat as we try to minimise the amount of plastic and new inputs we use in our garden. We dug out all of our grass by hand, best decision we ever made - no mowing and no issues with weeds! 💚

    How long does the plant start to fruit when grown using a seed

  • @MelbourneFoodforest

    @MelbourneFoodforest

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi K L, with veggies this really depends on what it is - but most of the seed packets should tell you. With tomatoes for example it could take 3 months, but lettuce, radish and asian greens you could be harvesting in 3 weeks! With fruit trees it is better to buy established trees rather than grow from seed as it can take 7-10 years to get a crop and the fruit may not resemble its parents as it could be cross-pollinated 💚
