As a kid ,growing up in the early 60's, we would walk the mouth of Johnson Creek, between Harbor and Hunting Islands , with a large wash tub in tow and a Coleman lantern for light. We struck flounder till the washtub couldn't float anymore and drug it back to the boat to go again.

I gig a fish like I m using post hole diggers straight down in gills and head. . Not trying to brag but the average john boat , 16 foot double wide won t hold all the flounder I ve gigged and I ve done it all my life many summers every weekend the Tide allowed. I had two children a daughter and son . I would take them and they loved to see the fish, crabs and other critters. This lasted an hour , two at the most then their attention drained and eyes so sleepy. I took two sleeping bags always and spread them out in boat covering them up and they took their favorite pillows. Very shortly with the quiet drone of my Honda generator singing a lullaby they were in la la land and it was time to get serious. We had a limit of 8 and staying all night getting 8 wasn t a prob but I passed on many waiting for doormats. Well 4 lbs if they were out and laying. I loved it. I passed the spells flipping needle fish with my gig. They would turn cartwheels landing after my flipping them. Hell of a exciting life huh? I wouldn't trade with anyone. Didn't drink, do drugs just fished and chased big migratory ducks for years. Fished from NC s mountains to the stream offshore. I d rather now, fish light fly tackle for 1 lb or bigger Copper head titty bream. Best fight on light tackle with except spadefish but my old knees and feet can t take the bumping out there. Wussie huh? Oh well Great video. Thanks for sharing.

I also use that cable coated J shape aluminum hook stringer when I go gigging. The gigging stick I use is 2 prong with no barb's

Nice vid. I'm from that area (Corpus and Port Aransas). I hope you go to Little Shell and Big Shell and to Port Mansfield where you will find awesome fishing. Port Aransas Jetties are Good and Packery Channel as well as the jetties in CC bay early in the am. I subs. to your channel and hope you get more! Also, the Oso bay area along Ocean Drive is good going towards Texas A&M. Also, I've seen Yahoos with 200,000+ subs. that go to the jetties just to hook Jack Cravelle and bull redfish and other species just to put on a show. From the jetties you can catch flounder, trout, sheephead depending on the conditions. If they can do it, so can you. I don't live there no more but just my 2 cents. Oh, very nice stringer and GOOD EATING! You can also do catch and cook to up those ratings. Just copy what the Yahoos are doing even if you destroy your tackle. In the long run, your subs. will go uppp.

I sure would love to know at least 2-3 different spots to go flounder gigging that I don’t need a boat to get to I live in Fort Worth Tx abs go down there about 1 time every 3 months to try abs bring back 2- flounder I only eat what I catch. When I fish I catch abs release cept fur 2 trout if I’m lucky enough to catch 2 keepers but my most relaxing g thing I. The works is to go flounder gigging. Just don’t know a lot of places that don’t require boats thx guys
