It had to happen, but what a run that bloke had. Legend & Classic. The best actor and comedian there was.

Les Patterson is one of the greatest comedy characters ever created. RIP Barry, than,s for the chuckles.

Barry Humphries was an extremely clever man and we in Britain will always love him and he will live on thanks to KZread. RIP you legend! legend

I saw him in London in 1982, we had cheap seats behind a pillar. The people next to us left after about 10 minutes and we enjoyed the rest of the show from their seats. One of the funniest men of our generation

The man was pure genius ,Rest in Peace .

The humour of Sir Les has maintained my sanity during extremely stressful times. Thank you, Barry Humphries! xx

As an American, I wish we had a Barry Humphries. We don't....period. Not for 30 years. His wit, intelligence, and utter disregard for political correctness makes him a King among everyone. We have a few brave comedic types in the US who have been cancelled. When Benny Hill program came to the US around 1980, both of my grandmothers and mother were total fans..and my elderly mother loves Les! They were/are badass women who understood the undertones of what was happening. I feel no guilt of every last bit of KZread contest I've watched of Les. Sorry for the rambling...but as as bloke from the US, I wanted to say how much appreciate what you all appreciate.

Was watching old Dame Edna just a few weeks before he passed and I was so shocked. He was brilliant and I loved Dame Edna and Les Patterson. Brilliant! Thank God for giving us Barry Humphries!!!!

Also I understand anyone who is not familiar with the Australian condition may be perplexed. Yes its cringey, feel free to search other aussie comedians from days past. Start with Norman Gunston. Lets not "cancel" a different era, just appreciate the climate of change from whence this came, because, when all is said and done this is how we got here. Also you may want to look at another of Barry's characters, Dame Edna. You may be surprised.

I saw him at the Regal theatre in Subiaco then the next day I had breakfast with him, I just happened to bump into him on the street. I read his biography and was a huge fan, he truly was a comic genius and Sir les was the antithesis of Dame Edna, they played off each other to perfection and my view is he was the funniest comedian ever to exist. Nobody could ever better his lifetime act.

How times have changed but isn't it refreshing to see human beings with a sense of humour rather than no sense.

We need him now more than ever. Come back Les. Please

i went to a live show in melbourne 20 years ago funniest show ever sir les was hilarious he invited old ladies from the audience on stage then put the"feelers" out as they tried to get past him whole place was cracking up laughing

A triumph for Sir Les, he actually made Claire Raynor cry with laughter.

The Lady with the knowledge of Body Language, sure showed signs of a mixture of excitement and shyness.

Simon Brenden. Humphries doesn't despise his characters, he enjoys them. He sees the humour and the tragedy in them and uses them to shock and amuse his audiences and in so doing points at our own foibles and hypocrisies. But you probably don't get that, Simon because you see yourself above these character creations. And you aren't!

Zinger after zinger after zinger, Humphries leaves current "TV Hosts", and "comics" for dead.

Brilliant Barry at his best. Hard to believe this is now 25 years ago as I'm watching it in 2016 shortly after this great artist retired from touring. Also liked the little plug for the street he grew up on in suburban Camberwell in Melbourne, ie Christowell.

I think what is wrong with the world today is we don't have comedy pushing the boundaries like this any more. Love the story at the end about the aphrodizzies. Great seeing Clare Rayner laugh and Barry seeing her and it sets him off as well.

Met Barry in a South Melbourne cafe by sheer chance about 8 years ago… He was on his own, stylish as ever, waiting for a taxi over a coffee. I sat, smiled at him and he did the same. He commented on my runners! This triggered an opening for a conversation… We chatted about Melbourne, what he was up too here in Melbourne, discussed television and film in which I was also working in at the time. 20 minutes later arrived. Walked to the door with him. He shock my hand and we wished each other well. Indeed one of the most ‘striking’, nicest guys you would ever wish to meet. Rest In Peace Barry. Really really miss you…
