Someone clearly sent u this video to react to w/o giving any context lol. Lata Mangeshkar is what we call a "playback singer." In indian cinema, actors don't actually sing. They hire the most celebrated and accomplished singers to do the vocals for films. Lata sang for generations and generations of actresses... From the 1940s to the early 2000s.. So the woman you see on screen is an actress lip syncing to latas voice. Indias music industry is VERY different from everywhere else int he world.... because the most popular singers are actually playback singers. Normal pop stars & bands who just release their own music are also big, but film music kinda eclipses everything else in terms of sales & fame.. so the singers who do the vocals for films are the ones who become the biggest stars. In fact, for decades, Lata and her younger sister (Asha Bhosle) pretty much sang all the female songs across almost every single film in Bollywood.... so their catalogue is massive. No one knows how many songs they've sung each, but estimates range wildly from 15,000 to 50,000 lmao (no one knows for sure... too many to count)...
