Old is gold indeed. Old Indian songs had beautiful tunes, a lot of complexities in singing and amazing lyrics. They were a whole package of entertainment. Most of them were also based on hindustani and carnatic ragas.

**For Rick and Korbin** ,.. The main difference between Indian way of singing (and few of its neighbour countries) and any other western or eastern countries is ... We(Indian+similar like us) while singing is more breathtaking than the rest of the world. Except some, in MOST of the notes Our voice is a mixer of breathy tone and Sharp tone.. while the rest of the world (mostly) use their vocal folds only to change the tone. **And that's why korbin's voice always changes during singing** but if you concentrate on our top singers their speaking voice and singing remain (mostly) the same.

Yes Lata ji was so keen about classical music and she even mastered 14 Hindustani classical music yes 14!+ Trained herself for perfect pronunciation in hindi and urdu. Also ended up singing in 36 Indian languages (that's because every director wants her to sing for them atleast once). Seriously she's the Gem of India ❤️

Rick is a great teacher. If you pay attention, you notice that he has empathy towards the very curve and experience of learning. I loved how he explained the minutiae of the piano keys without sounding all high and mighty; and in fact encouraged Korbin whilst doing so, even claiming (and I think he is right) that Korbin will be great at music if he were to apply himself for even a short amount of time. Subtle things like this show that Rick would have been (and still is) a great mentor and teacher.

They may be trolling. Or expressing a preference, I don't know, I am not on Twitter. I also generally prefer Asha, because Lata's too thin and high pitched sound is less pleasant to me. In terms of skill, of course she is a legend. I do like her late 50's to mid 70's phase, her peak in my opinion, where she did her best work. She continued far too long I think. And then there have been talks of her monopoly and aggressive attitude. I think we should stick to enjoying art, elevating artists to above humans is always problematic.

This song is so soothing and seems to be a normal and easy song to sing but if you go deep into it then you'll see the real challenge of Lata ji! It requires a perfect breathing timing, a single incorrect move will make this masterpiece a normal, average song -The song seems slow but it has a multiple lines and harkats in a single line! Which singers intentionally don't sing because it's too difficult. -In this song, every 2nd line becomes tougher than the first Example; (1st)hasee'n raat hoooo na hoo ho ho (2nd)Hasee'n raat hoooo hoo(extra note) na hoo ho ho (1st)Humko mili hai aaj ye (2nd)Humko mili hai a-a-a-a-a-j ye (many usually sing it as pale and normal aaj but here there's a great gliding/shaking effect which comes through great control over your voice) (1st) paas aaiye ki hum nahi (2nd) paas aaiye ki hummmm nahi (hum with more deep) This is why this song is The Masterpiece! Legendary singer Kishore Kumar was not musically trained even few famous music directors of Bollywood in past and at present A R Rahman is not trained in classical music.
