Lat Pulldown Variations

LAT PULLDOWN VARIATIONS
Lat pulldowns are one of the most popular back exercises. There are tons of different attachments and grips you can use and while there will be overlap of the muscles hit between all of them, you can emphasize different areas.
A wide overhand grip hits the teres major and teres minor. An overhand middle grip shifts the focus to the middle lats. An underhand grip emphasizes more lower lats and biceps. A v bar grip targets the middle and lower lats.

@@Vadu1337its up to you, depending on your goals and time capabilities. You can do only variation for several years of course, and your back will definitely be great but it's better to do several versions of them to emphasize lagging parts while stimulating other parts just enough to not loose progress. You can do it this way - pick 4-5 styles and keep rotating them, changing every 6-8-10 weeks depending how you structure your training cycles. Remember that muscle itself doesn't care about how long you do certain variation exercise but tendons and ligaments and joints might start hurting due to overuse if you keep doing only one variation for many many months.

@@namazishmakhametov3649you aren't going to lose any progress anywhere in the back if you're doing a vertical and horizontal pull. Pick 4-5 styles and keep.rotating them? Broski, it seems like you're looking into things but don't have a clear view of the process overall. How tf you gonna switch up your 4 or 5 vertical pull movements every 6 to 10 weeks? The key is progressive tension overload, the rest is minutiae

There's no need to overcomplicate it. Find a vertical pull, a horizontal pull and imo a pullover variation that you enjoy and get stronger at those. Frankly, my back grew a ton when I stuck to a powerlifting program, it was 3 sets of chinups a week and so all credit goes to the deadlifts there.
