From 1 April 2024 BBC Radio 4 only broadcasts the Shipping Forecasts at 0520 and 0048 (plus 1754 at weekends). This is the final weekday 5.54 pm forecast on long wave (and BBC Sounds) only. Read by Al Ryan.
The shipping forecasts have been broadcast on long wave since 22 April 1956.

I memorised all these areas back in the early 90s, on my portable LW radio that I’d take to school and listen to at break time, I was a sad little boy

Just putting it out there, but does anyone else remember another (foreign?) radio station playing music that seemed to "bleed through" into Radio 4LW at around the time of switchover to "(This is the) BBC World Service"?
