    For me it's the opposite. I'm not a huge fan of hugs, but I am a huge fan of awkwardness so I'm 100% going for the co-worker hug. Let's do this, buddy. Hugs!

    Some people like hugs, some people don't. The way these newscasters go about the conversation is kinda disturbing, though. Why wouldn't the two of them discussed ahead of time how they felt about a hug? Oddly inconsiderate.

    @@erikagray9883 exactly, you need to know where you stand with other people, because people are different. Some people like hugs, and some people are wrong. Not talking ahead of time to a co-host who may be wrong risks humiliatingly revealing, and failing to respect, their severe disability on live television.

    Is it something about newscasters specifically that makes them all vehemently and collectively "not huggers"? I'm not a hugger, but I can get it up for people who are or if the moment calls for it. This reaction is intense.

    @@Rosy2468 I imagine that would make a difference for people who aren't used to being on camera or aren't performers, but for both me and these newscasters, that's not the case.

    @@samanthachurch im aware that a newscaster is used to being on camera, but even so theres an added level of discomfort when you're being pressured into doing something you dont want to do on camera for others entertainment, especially when you know no ones actually going to find it actually entertaining.

    Actually they're closer to sociopaths. I uses to work in news. On air people are the worst. I watched a whole newsroom get excited because there was a big wreck on a slow news day and they got some good video.

    Haha, I like all the discourse in the comments. Its either 100% agreement or 100% disagreement with the news anchors. I think I might be in the middle. On one hand, its just a hug On the other hand, men do like to get overly touchy feely when given the opportunity and I'm guessing these women arent comfortable with their counterpart who they know quite a bit. (And of course the situation exists in the other gender direction, just speaking most typically.) I've always been more introvert than anything else, but have a group of friends where we all hug for hellos and goodbyes. (Because its just a hug.) But it would be weird if I was on the job and told I need to hug my co-worker because its the official day for that, lol

    Most of them have huge egos and don't care all that much for other people that also have huge egos. I imagine most newsrooms have a permanently high level of tension.

An important distinction in there that you conveniently left out is that some of these women probably know a bit better than you or I about he man (Or as I noted, could also exist in the other direction, which you also completely left out, oopsies.)

    Does anyone else not give out a ton of hugs but also doesn’t blink at being given one? Why are so many people so awkward? Similarly, I can’t begin to empathize with people who get gun-shy at a urinal or can’t poop in a public restroom. Just stay home in your safe space.
