Last Place to Top Three Battle at Laguna Seca
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
NCK Road Racing's Stock Honda Shifter Kart event at Laguna Seca (race 2 of 2). Fighting issues with my tires all day long i start in the back on the pack for the last and longest race of the day. This time my tires hold up, however i loose pressure in my rear left with three laps to go making things more interesting. . . Awesome event and very smart race craft by everyone in the front pack. . . cant wait to race this event again next year, possibly with another brand of tires.

Thank you all for the comments. This was a hard fought race for me, i was out of the back of my van for the weekend and very low cost. I didn't have the HP of the front runners, or the tires, but I had grit. I'm proud of the result and what it took to pull off where i finished... Road racing in karts is dangerous, and I am happy to have maximized my moves with out endangering others or my self. Nothing quite like the feeling of 100 + mph on a kart. Thanks again
Awesome, can't get any better than that. You guys have round ones made of steel. God bless you 🙏
It's wild watching people take the absolute worst possible line through the corkscrew every single lap except you. Good work.

Yeah, the amount of time made up through Andretti and the corkscrew is wild
Terrific race. Probably the first onboard race I've watched start to finish. Nice work, Michael. You defiantly had your foot in it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!
Every time I watch these Kart races, I get a contorted back!!! Amazing focus!!!👏👏👏
This was just riveting to watch. It was great to see such hard, clean racing and I particularly liked the little thank you wave at 22.29. Well done.
10 places in one lap, man you had your foot down. Great job.

it's great. minimal brake, carry the speed in
I've got this compelling urge to stand at the side of the track and throw bananas at you lot 😄
Never seen a race like this, that was fun to watch! Loved how you stuffed it into those corners.

This might be a little long, but here goes. I was going to school in Sacramento in the mid-1960s, and my roommates and I got hooked on watching Group 7 racing at Laguna Seca (they held races in the spring and fall). Remember driver/engineer/car designer Jim Hall and his innovative Chaparral with the tall adjustable spoiler?). Anyway, in the spring of 1966 me and my roommates get in my 1965 Old Cutlass and make the drive to Laguna Seca to watch the races. After a great long day of racing under the California sun and many beers, I had an alcohol inspired idea. Like many others, we had parked for the day on the grounds on the interior of the track. After the last race of the event had ended and people were leaving in their cars, I said to my roommates, “Let’s go for a drive, boys.” So we got into my Cutlass and instead of heading for the exit, found an opening that led to the track. Nobody even looked at us as I pulled onto the track at the Start/Finish line. Maybe they thought I was an official checking the track for debris, I don’t know. At the first left turn we start up a hill and I pick up the speed. None of us can even talk, we are so shocked to be doing this. Then came the first surprise as we crested the hill in a long gentle left turn and then immediately entered the infamous “S’s”, a series of very sharp left-right-left-right turns that are also going downhill now, AND are completely flat (no NASCAR banking here, these are road racing turns). I was going way too fast for my Cutlass, and in the first turn it felt like we went up on two wheels. I slowed quickly enough to stay on the track, and we made it back to Start/Finish, and miraculously, still no one seems the least bothered by us being on the track! So without hesitation, off we went on lap number 2! This time we made it through the S’s cautiously, and at the Start/Finish line this time they were finally onto us. Some rather burly and angry race officials stopped us and escorted us off the grounds. What a memory. I have no way of knowing, but I’m guessing it’s a stunt that has not been duplicated at Laguna Seca. I’m 75 now, but I can remember that day like it was yesterday. This video brought it all back as I was able to go around the Laguna Seca track yet again.
Wow wow wow, great drive, thanks for sharing.
What an awesome performance and pace, so brave and committed through the braking and corner speed, very impressive, shame the backmarkers in the end don’t move out of the way they make you lose that win that you deserved the most after that amazing comeback.
Great drive! That was fun to watch
In my younger days l raced Karts for nearly seven years but had to retire eventually from racing, due to severe back problems. Watching you race and achieve your result was absolutely amazing, you have a great future ahead of you. That was a fantastic race indeed!! Watching from Australia. 😊👍👍

I was wondering how tough it is on the body with as shaky as the cam seems.
Dude, Senna would've been proud of you. Great driving🤙
Amazing race, driving, circuit, weather, car and competitors. And gimbal of course!!✊😀
Ejemplar! Uno siempre prefiere ganar, sin embargo haber largado en última posición y haber estado en primer lugar, es simplemente de aplausos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Excelente carrera

Fantastic to watch ! Looks like some backmarkers were battling with the top 3 at the end....
Excellent driving, congratulations
That was some amazing footage ! The high speed bump at the end 👍
Never seen Laguna Seca from such a low prespective. Very cool, especially at the drop-in. I've driven this so many times in videogames!
Wow,awesome racing,you are the man!!!
Great race - brilliant racecraft shown here. Driver is very respectful of other driver's space, and really strong under braking. Great stuff!
Wow! Your skills from 6 to 11 are perfect.
EPIC BATTLE!!!!! Clean, respectful racing! Well played! Hamilton would be proud!!! 😁
Great race. nteresting to see where you gain and loose time

Brilliant driving. I would say fitness would be very important
this looks like fun man
Sooo many passes under braking, a real show of excellence.
great race and skills kart has some grunt fo sho what motor is in those ?
How many miles are the tires good for on a race like this?
Great race it’s the first time I have seen cart racing. What are the speeds and how old are the drivers?
Fantastic race. What kind of engine is it running? 250cc 2-stroke ?
Excellent! Was this a kz2 125cc shifter Kart and may I ask what Speeds you are doing here?
@MichaelKorody

This was a tony kart racer ev (kz) chassis with a 1999 honda cr125, top speed around 100, have seen 110 with a 3 kart bump draft
Great race
This gave me a much better understanding of how much abuse tires take during a race
There’s nothing like coming into turn 2 hot!
ラグナセカでカートできるんだ 主さんはコークスクリューから最終コーナーが得意なんだね 観ててワクワクしました!
Hi Michael, what is the cc on that Honda Shifter? Did you had to make any changes to get into that track?
@MichaelKorody
6 жыл бұрын
its a 125cc "stock honda" shifter, the only changes i made from sprint racing was gearing tall and jetting fat to save my engine from being run full throttle for extended lengths of time. all i have to do is change the pipe and i can race it with the premier racing series in the USA SKUSA...
What size engine are you running and what’s the top speed you hit? What about the max Gs in the corners? That looks like a lot of fun!
What motor are you running? A 250cc motocross engine? And what speed do you hit going down that front straight? Nicely done!
The motor was tuned perfectly. Handling at the end was a bit wonky but that motor!
Fun Race~
What is that a 35 rear gear. I never heard such distance/ time between shifts, great job you had to be buzzing for awhile after that.
i never drove a stock honda, do you think the speed equal the Kz shifter or a bit slower?
@MichaelKorody
7 жыл бұрын
stock Hondas have more torque and kz has the hp... the two drive differently threw the corners, a kz is slightly faster on a sprint track and has more of an advantage on a big track. I race Honda bc of skusa and how big and competitive the class is, also the costs are tiny compared to kz.
Fantastic driver 🥰
I'm glad you started last, it made it amazing to watch. You are a great driver!
Nice driving
Badass
what do those things run on nitro?
Wow, cool line @7:00 Either you got it very right or the other guy very wrong because you flew past him/her.
How much does a rig like this sell for?? Got a little LO206 on my rig. Definitely nothing like this thing. Great drive man.
The best lap time?
What is your best lap time at LS?
Was your kart juiced? You seemed to have a massive speed advantage on the uphill section before the corkscrew? Maybe you’re just shifting late? Either way, very impressive race man.
@0Synergy

Hes braking far less conserving speed. atleast thats what it looks like
How fast were you going
Can you use bead lock rims? Perhaps rtv on the beads? Messy but effective, i would look at rims 1st
You know that Cork Screw better than the other racers for sure. Thats were you gained most your positions at as well as the last half of the circuit.
Epic race. You deserved better than 3rd. That back marker had no business fighting for position within the leaders. In my opinion. You could have taken that race if it weren’t for that back marker.
Dude, nice race, could a brother get some pointers?
12:27, upshifted too early or is the tow that strong?
This makes me want to get into kart racint
Guys what is the fastest you can get on this track ???
It look so dangerous but I love it Laguna Seca specially
Great race, lots of dueling. Looks to me that you need to work on momentum and hitting apexes.
How much does it cost if I want to do that too?
Once he got by 5th place he started f*cking PARTYING
From start the tires - BAD, if you put the new - may be first in race. Sorry for my English guys.
