That was a fun scene to watch for me as an Edgar Wright fan, cause I knew everyone would think it was trick editing, and I knew that's not how Wright would do it. Even without watching the BTS, I knew, he 1000% had them actually switching out around the camera

The scene that requires Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy to mirror one another’s movements is quite impressive. Also James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley from HP) who play the lobby boy hit their marks! So glad they’re getting more opportunities in film after Harry Potter. Also the twirl Transition where Matt Smith Switches from dancing with the two leads is amazing! Well done.

Seeing the two ladies rehearse the dance floor scene while they’re dressed in comfy clothes was so sweet, and the choreography where they’re ducking and crouching, then popping back up and replacing each other… fascinating!
Tom and Anya's dance with Matt Smith was amazingly done. It's like magic, haha.. I love seeing this behind the scenes seeing how the girls had to duck and hide while they wait for their turns. So this was what Anya was talking about, that it was just like "practical" movie magic.
The two leads are so beautiful. It seems like a great casting.

The dancing scene was probably the coolest behind the scenes I've ever watched, that's EPIC that it wasn't edited and all done real time!
4:05 This is why Edgar Wright is the best director/writer for me. He is such a practical and clever guy. He could have just tape two separate scenes and edit them together later on. But nooo. He always does that. You can find lots of similar scenes from all of his movies. That guy is a genius! He puts his heart and soul into his movies and I love him for that. He is a true artist and cinema lover.
@damunaik4
2 жыл бұрын
I feel it would've been harder to shoot them separately and then edit them together. Because then Matt would have to do the exact same thing without any change, Mckenzie and Anya need to both do the exact same thing, the cameraman would have to ensure everyone was at the same point on the screen as the previous shot, lights moving the same way, whatnot.
@gab7081
2 жыл бұрын
@@damunaik4 or he could just be lazy and do those kinds of cuts where they just put someone "walking through the camera" to cut the screen in a half and put two scenes together, i've seen a lot of scenes like that in movies and I thought this was going to happen in this one too, so glad he did it in such a cool way.
6:14 - the terrified concentration on Anya's face speaks volumes :)
