Once upon a time I used to play as a DMF. One day during a crucial match our keeper got injured and we had used all our substitutions. Then I had to take the position of Goalkeeper, and made three saves. From then, everyone said me to play as a GK. And then I found you on youtube. Thanks bro for teaching us.

top performance+analysis 👏 interesting you mention at 2:54 you’d rather drop back than step up. as a shorter keeper my old coaches have always told me to step up once the striker puts their head down, meaning i end up set around the 6 even for a shot at the 18. i didn’t like that set position too much and i got beat a lot with the long shots that go up and down. when i’m deeper though my reach can suffer. makes me think that good positioning past the 18 seems more instinctual than technical. cause alex bono at dc is always set fairly high up yet he’s 6’3. tyler miller his counterpart is about the same height too but is set about the same way as you 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, it's something I've really switched up with my positioning over the past couple years and prefer staying deeper much better. Don't really rate my reflexes as one of my bigger strengths so it gives me a bit more time to find the flight of the ball. Which also gives me a better chance to go for a clean catch. Also, found it really helps with curlers since when closer to the line they will be curling back into you more than if set at the 6ish. But like you said if can suffer a bit of your reach on some shots. With a bigger frame that doesn't bother me too much

Great stuff Tyler! I understand the defenders hesitancy to play the type of ball that resulted in the goal, but I’ve always been of the opinion: 99% of the time don’t ever let it bounce, and 95% of the time play it safe and out when you’re around the six under pressure. Total bummer for you guys, but thank you for the game analysis man, and best of luck going forward.

That was a interesting game. The goal that was conceded is such an important reminder on how both physical and verbal communication is important on the field.

I always jump in with them for training when back home. And I don't think I've played any EPLS matches with them. They win a lot of those games like 10-1 so not the best for goalkeepers. But have been jumping in for their Open Cup Qualifications the past two years.

On the goal, as a defender everything happening so quick. Plus out of the corner of his eye he sees you creeping off your line, he is probably just waiting for any noise and assuming it’s you calling for it. Just one of the unfortunate goals where both players look like they are hesitating and assuming.

Late response but this is a amateur side that I'll sometimes jump in games with when I'm back home and out of contract. One of the big downsides of the US from a player standpoint is the huge drop off between the pro and amateur/semi pro leagues. Without a proper pyramid you can't really just go find a club in the next closest tier that's somewhat close to the level you want to be playing at. Like when I first went to Croatia I originally wanted to sign in the second tier "Pro" but couldn't get a trial so then was able to quickly find a third tier club "Semi-Pro". Where the level in the third was decently lower than the second but not by some crazy amount. And then after spending like a season and half there was able to eventually sign in the second tier. We don't really have an option like that available in the US.

How does the UPSL winner get an automatic spot but not NISA?

  • @GKGOLUREMI

It's a weird setup. NISA hosted the tournament but the tournament was just for amateur clubs associated with NISA Nation. So with NISA being considered a Pro league non of those teams were involved. NISA were naming it as the Amateur National Championship.
