Last Look Inside The Green Man Pub Liverpool

A look inside during the ripping out of this iconic Liverpool Boozer. The pub is best remembered as used in the TV Series Boys from the Blackstuff and a character named Shake Hands. The site is now being demolished to make way for a series of flats. The pub has been empty for a few years. Another part of our history, sadly gone now

Absolutely tragic to lose another old pub, especially this one, which has such an interesting history. One day it'll be too late and all the old pubs will be gone, then this country will have irrecoverably lost another aspect of it's character and identity. Until then, another pint of bitter boss !

Same happened to my local in Scunthorpe The Crosby Hotel, a gorgeous massive old pub built in 1901, stained glass throughout, lots of lovely oak beams, a fantastic ballroom and stage for live music. Then suddenly about 15yr ago its shut it's doors for good, a decision of the brewery apparently. It's still standing but is so wrecked now it is destined for demolition. Breaks my my heart every time i pass remembering all the good times i had there. There is a vid on here of urban explorers going around it, i watched it once but it just sickened me no end.

This is so sad. This was featured in the 80's drama series 'Boys from the blackstuff'. It's so sad that it is no longer here.

I used to go in there as a kid. My nan lived behind it in Portland Gardens, so my dad had a few pints in there and i would go in. That was a couple of years before Boys from the blackstuff. Bob Ready appeard in that episode. He run another pub called The Bass House. Tate and Lyles was accross the road, too. Now it's all houses up there. The past wiped away.
