    As a kid cleaning horses’ feet, I was always taught not to touch the frog with the hoof pick, because it was sensitive. How to you know how deep to carve without hurting the horse?

  • @shy-2008SW

    @shy-2008SW

    2 жыл бұрын

    I've had horses for a while now. I'm not sure exactly how far you can dig into the frog, but I'm sure it can be trimmed just like the hoof itself. Farriers Lear the inside of the hoof during training, and when learned you know where the tissue of the hoof is so you don't trim to deep. Just like with us we can trim our finger nails until we get back to the skin or a little further,that is basically how you can do it to a horse. ( I am not a professional so don't quote me on this.)

    @Manasit They get use to it like anything else a horse gets exposed to on a regular basis in a controlled manner. I’ve worked with thoroughbred race horses. I use to make a lot of cash tip money by holding crazy thoroughbreds for farriers at track meets when I was a teenager. Thoroughbreds, especially young thoroughbred stallions that are physically conditioned and jacked up to race, are some of the flightiest, most high strung horses you’ll ever handle and even they get use to it.

    honestly very intresting, wanted to know as a simple question, why do you clean and replace shoe/hoof? What would happen if you didnt? just asking! :)

    probably for comfort, but also to avoid potential injuries and infections. its comparable to human shoes i guess, eventually they just wear down and are no longer good to use, though for a horse it happens way faster than for us haha. and, just like a horse's hooves, we trim our nails and keep them clean for various reasons

    With shoes on them the hooves can't be worn down naturally and still keep growing like our fingernails. So the shoes don't fit after some weeks and are worn off and need to be taken off to trim the hoove and put on a new shoe :)

    You replace them because if you didn’t a nail could come loose and hurt the horse or the shoe could fall off and hurt them, and you clean them to keep all the dirt out of their hoof and prevent rocks from getting stuck in there causing an abases or something of that sort. Hope this help! :)

    100% они ничего не чувствуют, во-первых конь уже давно бы убил человека копытами, во- вторых у животных с подковами это как у нас ногти, человек который знает чем он занимается, думаю не стал бы делать больно животному 😅 я думаю достаточно понятно, если интересно то почитайте в интернете строение копыт 🌚

    @@anastasiabennett4854 it depends on the horse and what they walk on. Bigger, heavier horses on asphalt will wear the shoes down faster, where the shoes lasts one shoeing. Lighter horses that mostly walks on softer surfaces might have their shoes for two or sometimes even three shoeings, but usually max two

    Not at all! If it’s done well enough like in this video, the horse is actually feeling really good. Letting the nails growing too long can hurt and damage the horse’s hooves but you cannot cut too short either so
