I find it funny how she laughs at the boys innocence and aloofness to the serious situation around her like “yeah it is very crazy I know” For her to be so self aware of her own end is probably a lot to deal with and despite all the sureness around her passing and care she is given, she’s probably still worried and the kid is probably the only real relief

Well she laughs after she says the emperor (her son) is dead, which is prob aluding to that she very likely had him killed.

That’s not wild. The real Cixi in history liked cosplaying herself as gods. All her servants needed to dress like gods. The clothing styles are from ancient Chinese mythology.
