I think the days are numbered for the T-1. They will disappear not because of quality issues but just the economics of it.

what model is thus brand wise

Futaba has the new T26SZ T/R for sale in Japan. I don't think it is going to fix anything for your F-22

No because to my understanding the only way to get the extra channels is to use sbus2 ports
