I have had my EGO Push mower (Entry Level) for over 3 years now and have had zero problems with it at all. I was so impressed with it I decided to purchase the self propelled model (Steel Deck) in February 2019 this year. Very impressed with the quality and performance of these tools and the bonus is that I can use my other battery from the previous model as a backup battery with the new steel deck model. Great stuff EGO and I highly recommend these tools. Cheers from Brisbane Australia. BTW, great video All Electric, lets see more.

glad I saw your rust, I'll know to keep an eye on it and do preventative protection. editing to add, watched another EGO mower video, same rust in same place. Now I'll have to decide how to treat this part. I use a lot CLP on my firearms, I think I'll start with that. (CLP = clean, lube, protect from corrosion) Further editing: I looked more closely at this. This rod does not spin or articulate or anything. The rust is not pretty, but I don't think it will effect operation in the least....

Thanks for the review. Been on the fence with EGO or a 4 stroke Honda mower. Really dread dealing with a gas mower again. I started with a WORX mower 4 years ago. Sucks! WORX discontinued the mower and the replacement battery for it. The mower works great still, but batteries are getting weak. Nice about EGO, their batteries works in all of their products. For people who might like WORX, they did email about buying another model of theirs for only 159.99. But I looked it up and it looked like a model that they will discontinue also. At least WORX customer service responded and tried to work with me. Think I will go with the self propelled EGO mower. Especially based on your review after 3 full seasons and it still works like a charm. I like the under carriage of the EGO much better. Seems more protected than the WORX model I have now. Thanks for showing that also.

3 years on the 56V battery, without any degradation is good to know! Just finished my first season on the same mower (not self-propelled), but I too am impressed and love its performance. Question: do you store your batteries fully charged in between mows? What about the end of season? I understand some batteries, such as LiPO do better at a storage voltage, such as 60% when not in use.

Took it to HD and they said....."no one knows how to fix these things" They gave me a refurbished unit in lieu of warranty repair. One year later the refurb unit quit too. Self Propelled unit fails. Ego said sorry and is sending me a brand new one. I'm sure I'll get one year out of it then have the same issues.

I don’t think the dual battery is necessary unless you have a huge yard or using for a mowing business. I’m sitting on about a quarter of an acre and with the 7.5 battery I can cut it about 2 1/2 times on one charge. Whatever electric model you get I know you’ll be happy with it. • @loves2shoot

I watched them prices on them for a bit. Don't seem to dip at end of season, but the pricing is better in middle spring. Currently the 7.5 ah/21 inch sp is 499, earlier this year it was 550. You never know what the future holds, but if you can swing it the current deals are great .... often better than craigslist. And you will get the warranty if you buy from HD. I worry most about the battery longevity. I have a bunch of their tools .... first year I got a trimmer. Next year I got backpack blower (mostly for the 5 ah battery) and hedge trimmer and chainsaw. Earlier this year I picked up the mower. So I"m highly satisfied, but I can't help but worry about battery longevity. But with the rapid charger I got this year .... I run all of my batteries till dead, and then charge while I use another. An I have yet to wait on a fresh battery. But the economics of these are such that the battery is the most valuable part. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. BTW, I didn't even register my first 4 batteries (see above) as I didn't really think of it in time. But with the steep cost of the mower I made sure to register everything the charger, mower and 7.5 battery (too late to register my previous purchases).

Loved the lawnmower, even cuts, lightweight, folds up. But as this video says Customer Service is atrocious. My self propel failed in the middle of May. I year to the day after I had bought it for a price of $900.00 Canadian including tax from Home Depot. Grass grows fast in the spring. I didn't take it back to Home Depot since their wait times could be 4 - 6 weeks. The customer service did give me a private repairman to take it to in Brantford and he has been nothing but accommodating. The problem is getting parts. He has sent e-mails, made telephone calls and It is now the first week of June and we can only hope the parts they are sending which may arrive in a week are the parts he ordered. In the meantime, my lawn looks like hell. So...I am still looking at another 2 week wait for my mower and not quite sure if I can trust it to last.

Fantastic video. I just received my 21” SP mower the other day, it had it’s first use yesterday. Bloody awesome! Out of the box I couldn’t believe how large it was. I thought my old petrol mower was a 18” deck but I checked and it’s only 16”. The ego’s 21” made my lawn cutting so much quicker. I’m amazed at the power. I was cutting 4-8” high grass and weeds and it never bogged or stalled. A few times it ramped up to high but it handled it perfectly. The only bit I don’t like it that bloody flap at the bottom. I don’t understand what it’s supposed to do?

I replaced a 2015 model with a 2021 LM2101 (push 5-amp). They’ve made some nice improvements to it …… however, I’ve noticed that on the lowest blade setting the 2021 model doesn’t cut as low as the 2015 did. I suspect it is because the housing and driveshaft are the same one used for the LM2135, which can accommodate 2 blades. But since I can’t add the 2nd blade to the 2101, I’m wondering if I can use some large washers between the blade and the shaft ? As usual, EGO’s customer support is almost completely feckless.

Don't know why anyone would even use the side discharge, or catcher option. The mulcher works fantanstic. Even when the grass gets a little long there is no evidence that the lawn has even been mowed left behind (unlike other mulching mowers I've used). Don't know why you would need the self-propelled option either. This mower is extremely easy to push even tho my lawn is not only pretty big (45-55 min.), but it's also on a hill and therefore has plenty of "potholes".

I've been wanting an Ego mower for a couple years, but I wanted a larger deck and brushless motor. I've been watching and waiting for the latest and greatest, but Ego hasn't released a new mower with those updates in a year or so. While I was waiting and searching, I found in the last month Toro released a 22" electric mower with 7.5 Ah battery, and it has the same deck and blade as the gas mower, so I bought it. Anyways, all this to say, the Toro battery rails look similar to Ego's, so I wonder if its the same battery and motor 🤔

“I’m lucky my problem resolved itself”= the problem is intermittent and I’ll pretend it’s in working order. 😂 I was on the fence between a Honda HRX217 or a EGO select cut. I borrowed my Father in law’s EGO and admit I was surprised by its strong performance and lack of bogging (even while cutting dewy tall grass at 5am.) But I did note the wheels seemed wobbly. And it sounds like the self-propel motor is an existing issue for many of you EGO owners. The lack of parts and customer service is a deal breaker for me. I was super excited to switch to battery powered but I don’t think the eco(EGO)-system is quite there yet for my taste. I am ordering the Honda. Yes the auto-choke will need a new thermo wax cartridge in about three seasons. That’s $5 and available at any mower dealer. Who knows in a few seasons I may be a battery powered mower owner too.

I just purchased EGO snow blower for winter and lawn mower for spring. Only concern I have is EGO customer service not the product as everything breaks eventually and their product seems reliable compared to peers. But I keep reading reviews where EGO owners have problem with the product and when EGO finally responds they state 6-8 weeks for simple fix. That is not acceptable. EGO and Home Depot is in some sort of partnership, or latter owns the former. Repair center should be residing in HD with plenty of spare parts in stock and should take less than one week for repair. If EGO cant have repair center in HD then they should farm certified mobile repair vans that can stop by owners house for repair. For price they charge for product they should have repair cycle all worked out. Six to eight weeks is simply unacceptible and will drive away customers in the long run.

This is my experience with EGO warranty service. After several attempts to get them on the phone then 2 days of testing and confirming a defective 7.5 amp battery for my Mower they said that they would replace it, wow that's great I thought. Going on 5 weeks so far and I have not received it, no stock they claim yet retailers are fully stocked with EGO products. EGO Warranty Service is TERRIBLE! and if you need their help you can go for weeks if not months before you get to use your tools again. I would not recommend buying EGO products because if you need Service from EGO they will drag their feet when it comes to repair or replacement. Not a good purchase if you ask me.

I own one and live in Oklahoma where there is Bermuda grass everywhere. This mower does a great job. You can even wait for the sun to go down, turn on the headlights and mow (it's very quiet, hell my wife and I can carry on a conversation due to the level of quietness form the mower), I mowed the front and back with lights on and using self propelled when needed on hills and still had battery charge left. If you're thinking about getting one, do it. I watched a ton of reviews and finally decided to get one and I'll never go back. Also, the mower can sense if it's going thru thicker grass and will rev up the blades to cut thru it, it cuts thru the grass just like a gas mower.

I purchased an Ego 21 inch push mower (not self propelled) back in 09-2017 and have used it roughly 200-300 times including the use of it on my neighbors lawn. I like it. Not loving it. It's definitely lighter than my old Honda gas powered mower. I always mulch after the first two seasons' cuts. It turns out that EGO has a 3-year warranty on their very expensive 5-AMP battery. Well this season I learned that the original 5-AMP battery which, came with this mower, wasn't charging any longer. When I called their tech support and tried the troubleshooting tips for about 5 days they requested that I find my original receipts. During that whole time they were making me jump through hoops trying to find an original receipt for replacement if after following their tips the battery still wasn't working. I went through hell to find those receipts and by some miracle I did. I've also learned that if you do not have your receipt you will have a near to impossible battery replacement experience from EGO. And after finding my receipt it took them a little over two weeks to receive the new battery. So far the mower has been keeping up with anything I throw at it including my tall fescue lawn which at one point was over 5 inches tall and very thick. (Now for an Oops moment) In addition to this I also received as a gift their Edger and string trimmer combo kit. I am scared as hell now when those batteries start to fail. I'm wondering what kind of hell of an experience they'll be putting me through again since this time I didn't receive a receipt. I was thinking about upgrading to the self propelled double battery version of the new EGO 21" mower but I think I will pass on that, and refrain from purchasing any more EGO products and move on to something else until I hear EGO has fixed their replacement program.

Thanks for this review, but I have to say that your grass is not as thick and lush as many other lawns would be, especially this time of year (April and May) where we get ample rain. So I am not sure this review would be an accurate representation of it's abilities, especially mulching. I need to replace a 9 year old Snapper gas mower, but I am not sold on electric models just yet, even though I want to go that route.

These seem to be the best electrics available today. No service is a dealbreaker though. And I wonder how it will hold up over 10 years. I am here because my 12 year old 22" Toro Recycler's transmission is shot. I'm considering the electric upgrade but am a little apprehensive to leave the gas behind. It's all I've ever known! I'm also a little fearful of replacing the batteries. What's the likelihood I will get 12 years out of the EGO electric mower? (I'm also struggling at the thought of 'losing' that inch going to just a 21" deck). So, I'm still on the fence - meanwhile my lawn is growing as I type this and pushing my Toro Recycler without the self-propelled is HEAVY!

  • @plmn93

From what I can find, the EGO reviewed here has 1000 watts. This is equivalent to 1.3 HP, or less than half of a bargain-basement gas mower. While it will do the job for most people, it's simply not going to have nearly the power or suction to mulch, bag, or stand up grass for a clean cut like a gas mower in the same price range. So, for me the only reason to buy would be for the quiet and convenience, with the understanding that performance and likely longevity would suffer. There's nothing wrong with making that choice, it's just something to be aware of when electric manufacturers are claiming they have the same power as gas. Maybe a gas string trimmer, I suppose.

ALL Electric ⚡️ I hand sharpen mine. I just use a flat metal file which allows me to maintain the factory edge on the blade. Some people will say that takes too long and recommend using an angle grinder. It takes me about five minutes to sharpen and balance my blade. That is another important thing to do. But a blade balancer and make sure your blade is balanced before you reinstall it. A blade balancer is cheap, and most hardware stores should have them. A sharp lawn mower blade is also better for your grass as dull blades tear the grass which can make it prone to diseases.

I personally would not buy another ego mower. It worked great when new then after 3 years and 1 month the battery gave out. The warranty is 3 years. No help from customer service. Went to buy a new battery and it was $385 with tax. Wow! The rest of the mower is good. I will also add that this mower is for a yard with sparse grass and weeds. If you have a nice yard with thick grass, the mower battery will overheat and shut down. When it does this a couple times you will be heading to the store to buy a new gas mower. The ego mower has a lot of things going for it, but cutting grass is not one of them. I apologize to the people I recommended this mower to. I just hope they will talk to me again
