i collected loads of queens this flight and can’t wait for them to grow. bust admit though i will be keeping them in an artificial set up so i can see all the goings on in the nest. you need to get more content out too! you have left it too long between videos!

Hey Hood, I didn’t have a big flying ants day in my area yet, I’ve had nothing but rain 😞 my new multi queen flavus colony will more than likely end up in an acrylic nest, tbh the flavus colony in the video would have probably stayed in their nest if they didn’t keep getting out 😆 I do miss seeing the queen! I doubt I’ll ever be one who makes videos religiously, think it would take the fun out of it for me. I’m just someone who keeps ants as pets, who happens to share them online lol but I’ll try get more out! Thanks for watching ❤️🐜🐜🐜🐜

I have a colony of 2 lasius flavus queens in a tube with some brood one of them seems to be dying soon is it ok if I can add like more lasius flavus queens in with the remaining queen so they can live together or too late?

@@administrato I wouldn't bother, I'm assuming they were likely caught from the July/August 2022 nuptial flights? Which if that's the case normally they would have had their first workers before the winter hibernation. How have you been keeping them? If youve been keeping them well all this time and they haven't had workers then many they are not fertile and might be better off starting with fresh queen's. Happy to try help you figure it out tho

Very cool you don’t see big lasius flavus colonies in captivity very often really cool video but I do have one question why didn’t you putbazen into an sandwich nest that way they would have been able to dig and you would be able to look at them But anyways cool video

Thank you! Good question! Even when they were in the cheap acrylic nest they would take in substrate to the nest and make tunnels inside the nest. With flavus normally spending nearly all their time underground they will try to replicate that. I think if I’d given them the option you suggested they would have found a way to try stay hidden. I appreciate the suggestion tho, I have several multi queen flavus colonies from this years flights and may just try your suggestion and see how it goes! If I do I’ll be sure to name the set up Croon town In honour of your suggestion 😁😆 Thanks for watching ❤️🐜🐜🐜🐜
