    I am a beginners beginner so I have been watching many KZreads several by Tony but this was a lightbulb moment and solved many of my problem. I had been trying to get a decent resolution with NO good results and when Tony said to use the Laser Mode of M4 and I couldn't as mine was set to M3. I finally got it changed to allow for an M4 and the result have been amazing!! Thanks!!!

    Jerry, the commands M3 M4 come from CNC machining commands. for a LATHE. and they refer to Spinning the CHUCK Clockwise or Counter-Clockwise. M5 is sthe Command to STOP. (see: M Commands in G-Code) Here, M4 refers to FULL POWER for cutting. and M3 is used for PWM(pulse width modulation) or "VARIABLE power" which gives you the "light to dark" burn. or GRAYSCALE. the range of steps is 256 from BLACK to WHITE. (256 decimal is the MAX you can count with 8bit binary resolution) Look up Binary to DECIMAL conversion if your want to learn more........ Anthony Baltazar: Eres Chingon! Cabron!! Thank you for your detailed tutorials ... helping me a lot as a beginner. If I had a wish to the LaserGRBL programmer ... I would like to have a second indicator for the actual laser power - just like the buffer "VU meter". This would help to utilize the full dynamic range of the laser power (instead of reading the actual Sxxx values while running).

    Great video series Tony. A few months late comment, but did you consider dropping the Smax from 255 to a lower value so that it did not burn the wood as much? I guess if your machine goes faster and that solves the issue, then it's better. But just wondering.

    Hi, with the most powerful laser, you should lower your S Max setting (try 127 instead of 255, for example) - Your laser will only output half of its power for black parts, and the lighter parts of the image will also be more ... light - And you'll get a greyscale ;-)

  • @brakthehun

    @brakthehun

    2 жыл бұрын

    That can help. One issue is that you're not running your laser at half power,, you're running it at half duty (it's switching off and on at high speed) and it can still remove the surface (leaving it a little darker) instead of leaving the surface blackened.

    If I want to add a second laser to my setup with a 15W laser, do I need a second Control board to run it, or can I just move over the connections for the laser I want to use. I’m talking about the board directly connected to the laser, not the Arduino I upload code to.

    What I did: I hooked up both lasers to the control board,, almost. I hooked up ground (black) and signal (Blue or yellow).
