    Nice one,well done, prefer the black frame as well, makes it pop, and of course you can also colour the roads and so on. Once thing I do often is use a Topographical map from online sources and then create a contour based map of your chosen area and then overlay some of this data as well for a real 3d experience. The final maps look superb.

    If you don't consider the price then this one the Atezr P10. Great cutting and engraving capacity plus built in air assist intake. If you are looking for something in the mid price range then Longer Ray5 with 10W module or Ortur Laser Master 2Pro with 10W module. If you are on a super tight budget then the Atomstack A5 Pro+ with 5W power module - good for engraving but cutting perfornance not as good as the 10W modules obviously.

    When you engrave the local roads on the same sheet of wood as the water, what do you do (or what happens) when a local road crosses a stream/river?

  • @CasualDIY

    @CasualDIY

    Base level is water, next cutout for water and local roads - if there is a bridge then it will be there just need to make sure it's connected.

    @@CasualDIY Yeah, but when the waterways are cut first, the bridges are r shown on the file. The entire waterways will be cut out contiguously and then the roads will be engraved and there won't be anything crossing the water to be engraved on. Or am I just not getting it?

  • @CasualDIY

    @CasualDIY

    @@robertusm On the same layer you cut the water and engrave the roads. That means on that one file you need to make sure the bridges are there and connected. Ie the water cut out is separated by the bridges. It's one file, one layer for both cutting out water and engraving roads.

    @@CasualDIY I see the roads crossing the water on your video, but when I bring the water map into inkscape, the water isn't broken by bridges. When I combine the water and roads layers in Lightburn, it still wants to cut the water first, without bridges and then engraved the roads. What step am I missing?

    Great project, good instructions to follow. Are there any steps skipped? Such as when the text from the bottom is removed and is the water edited? When I create the water vector as instructed, then load it into Lasergrbl it has a square boarder and is not self contained like on yours. Also it is not a PNG file. Any advice? Thanks.

  • @CasualDIY

    No stepps missed. Just amending the graphic to what I want exactly. One thing you need to be aware of when doing the water cut out is that the water lines need to be closed off to be cut out. Are you using correct settings in lasergrbl? You can adjust few things there that would give something you are saying.

    @@garymorin4813 it does take a lot of effort and hard work, now I wished I've started just a vlog channel 🤣 These are amazing tools and what they can do and how you can utilise them opens a lot of new doors for project opportunities. I could use a CNC to be fair, that paired with my 3D printers and laser engravers would future proof my workshop for a while. Great tools to stream line work and speed things up. Specially if you are a one man band type of a business like me.
