Larry was the last consecutive 3-peat MVP

@@egrassa1480 Embiid cried his way to an MVPity. The voters and media kept pushing that "Are we really going to vote for a 3-peat mvp when they've never even made the nba finals?". They stopped that legacy with a dumb narrative.

@notimportant3686

@@erikw9233 entirely possible, but really if lakers weren't around, because magic wasn't the whole thing, they had freaking kareem abdul jabaar who might be argued to be the best player of all time, they had cooper and worthy... if they had another just above average guard on that team instead of irvin, they might still have won those championships, don't forget, they had very little competition in the west in that era, they were going to the finals almost by default
Fellas. There were only 3 that won 3 consecutive MVP'S. Russell, Chamberlain and Bird.....
Also, Russel, Wilt & Bird are the only players with 3 consecutive MVP's
LARRY LEGEND IS A UNICORN AND THE TRUE GOAT!!! 🐐 ☘️ (And this documentary is PROOF!)
Larry won three MVP's (in a row) back to back to back - before that Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell were the only ones to ever do it in NBA history, so Larrys in a group of only three players in the history of the NBA to ever do it. Then, with that crooked finger broken so long ago he still wins the three point shootout three times in a row. His career ended sooner than it should have due to injuries, but dam if larrys hard work didnt make 13 years of greatness seem like 20 -
Bird was the ultimate humiliator
Great job guys. One of the most iconic athletes crossing al major sports. He will still be talked about 100 years from now.
I Already Had To Stop The Video & Give Ya Some Truth 😆. NOPE, Larry Is Still The Last One To Get The 3-Year's In A Row. Look It Up😆🤣😆
Larry Bird is still the goat 1# 100% in my opinion
Larry Bird was the last player to win 3 consecutive MVPs. He is also the ONLY forward in the league to accomplish this feat.
Do you see how fluid the Celtics played back then and tough. I grew up with them.My grandfather was a fan amazing team nineteen eighty six
3 consecutive mvps.3yrs I'm a row.only 3 people have dome it
The best SF to ever play the game... imo. I would take him over Lebron every time.
Good to see you back on bird. Shaq only got one MVP. Joker got two in a row. Then someone else won and then he got it again this year. Larry wilt and Russell still are the only ones to get it three consecutive times.Bird didn't have the money to stay at school with Bob knight. Crazy thing about that finals win Larry didn't get mvp Maxwell did in that title against the 76ers.
Larry B ird is the baddest basketball player ever and I mean ever
Larry Legend
Mookie dying a little bit more inside each time Larry makes one impossible shot after another 😂
8:33 there’s a video about this guy called “The Man Who Accidentally Saved The NBA”
As an American, this song NEVER gets old! After 9/11, there were two songs that came out at exactly the perfect times. This one was the latter, and it was exactly what this country needed at the time. The other came out almost immediately after 9/11 happened. It was called "Where were you (when the world stopped turning) by Alan Jackson. This was when we were still so devastated by the tragedy. It was exactly what we needed when we needed it. It helped up mourn our losses. Then... this song came out, and again, it was exactly what we needed when we needed it. Kinda like, "OK, now we gotta do something about this!" Amazing song, wonderful reaction, and I LOVE your interest in history! It's wonderful to see you showing these videos to your children and teaching them as well. It's truly a beautiful thing you're doing, I love your channel! Thank you!
Ok You 2 Missed The Part When In The Video One Of The Sports Announcer's Said "Larry Is Still Playing With A Broken Left Thumb & Has a Wrap On Up".This Is In The College Game Between Magic.

Bird was the “Humbler”. I was a Lakers fan but when when the Celtics came out of the Eastern Conference my heart sank. I knew if we got to finals it would be a dog fight. It wasn’t all Bird but Bird changed games. Injured or not.
"Larry Bird ain't white he's cream." LMFAO I was dying at work when I heard that. Best overall player ever imo. Yes there were better individual stat players but overall, Bird is the word.🤙🔥
They use to say Larry's not white, he's clear.

I still remember Bill Murray saying that in Space Jam, laughing my ass off.
Good review guys. Keep it up. The two players that save the NBA from extinction: Bird and Magic.
This was so amazing and you guys are awesome.. and I am from Boston and we are die hard fans and will carry our teams to the end.. It is about feeling that we can when everything is against you... thank you for this reaction I so enjoyed it✌
More old school basketball content!! This was awesome! I'm with, Mookie. 80's to 2010 is the golden age. Keep up the great work!
As a Pistons fan I absolutely hated Bird but I also sure as hell respected him.
Lads in a 8 yr stretch Larry won 3 MVP's and was 2nd or 3rd otherwise. And look at who was on that list man the league was STACKED
No one has won 3 consecutive MVPs since Bird. Not only was Bird the third player (and the only forward) to make MVP 3 times in a row but In a 9-year run from 1980 to 1989, Larry Bird got 67% of all MVP votes that were cast. All other players combined only received 33% of the votes. in an era that included the players who eventually made up the dream team and a large list of HOF players.
Bird was Reggies coach in the NBA after he retired....they are genuine friends now :)

@@agordon7369 oh shit, I know that. I'm not sure how or why I didn't notice when I posted it I was distracted by debating the current league and rookies vs then. Thanks for the heads, how embarrassing, Especially when I watched the games they played each other.
When I played basketball 120% offense and defense everyday
This is when real men played the game.
No one has won 3 in a row league MVPs since Larry Bird.
This was Great! Thank you for taking the time to react in one shot.
They called him Larry Legend while he was still playing
In a interview Barkley said he is still pissed at the NBS for fining him for holding Bird back, he claims he was holding Bird back to break it up and to prevent Bird from Killing the Doctor. The problem was no one was hold Dr. J back in the other direction. Dr. J says "you call that a fight? Bird says "I was up 36 to 6"
For 4 straight seasons from 84-88 over 300 games Bird averaged a 50/40/90 with just over 28 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists per game. That's a ridiculous statline over an unmatched stretch of games.
Great job Dunson. Loved the 80s, the era of the Superstars. Magic, MJ, Kareem, Dream, Dominique, Clyde, Dr J, Moses, Charles, Chambers, Patrick, Sampson, Isiah, Worthy, Stockton, Mailman, Axe, Chambers, Glove. But 1 man beat em' all, King of the 40/50/90 club. Larry Legend!!!!🏀
They just opened the Larry Bird Museum in Terre Haute, IN.
No fellas only 3 ever to this day WILT RUSSELL BIRD just them
Legend.
Thanks for a great reaction guys!

Thank you for watching
The rule changes the NBA made to coddle "his airness" and make his greatness fit within the rules softened the game. It started then and has continued since. I liked hand checking and no palming personally. Also that 1981 series between the Sixers and Celtics was the best basketball I've been fortunate to see. The 86 team had the best ball movement but the intensity of those 81 teams was something else.
My favorite all-time basketball player is Larry Bird The Legend and it wasn't just about his game skills it was his loyalty his love for the game and of course the trash talking😅😅 I love you guys from Toronto😊😊😊 I'm not sure because I watch a lot of reactions if you ever done any reactions to either Nico Ali Walsh or Biagio Ali Walsh who I'm sure you know are Muhammad Ali's grandchildren Nico is a boxer and Biagio is a MMA upcoming Star both of them because they are young😊😊😊 I just watched a video you should check out it is Nico Ali Walsh the fastest hands it's about 15 minutes and it's showing highlights from all of his Pro fights😊😊😊
"Take it to the park!" Good shit.
Being real guys..my whole life can be summed up by that chant...beat LA.. What an awesome era to have lived and experienced real basketball
Yheres a snippet of the Celtics owner wanting to sign Larry at the end of carrier for 4 million dollars even though he was getting washed up with injuries, and Larry said,"You know I can't take a paycheck if I can't work". Who would do that now..
Folks forget that Walton was a Hall of Fame player. Maybe the greatest passing center ever not counting Wilt .
I remember this!
Good job guys! There were only 23 teams in the 84-85 season so most teams were loaded, hence the tough series in the playoffs. Yeah...we were a tough people back then...nowadays not so tough. This generation complains about everything!
jokic deserved to join the 3 consecutive mvp club he’s as unique and different a player as russell, chamberlain, and bird
Larry's rookie contract was for $650,000 a year ($3.25 mil over five years), a record for a rookie contract, 1980.
Bird is the only 3 peat mvp since the 1970 merger
Tom Brady won a championship in his second season.
No one since Bird has won 3 straight league MVPs, not MJ, not Shaq, not Joker... No one
That Lakers cheerleader they kept showing is Paula Abdul
Larry Bird is always fun to watch
He had a mouth on him. He is a phenom
My freshman year was Birds senior year. Indiana State is in the Missouri Vally Conference. A non-power 5 school.

Bird fan but Still givin Melo his props.
Old school basketball !!!! I miss the real game the way it used to be. I'm old so maybe I think everything was "better back then". But you have to admit-it was tougher! Really enjoyed your comments.
What if larry bird played street ball? Hot sauce ain't got nothing on him... especiaaly With the extra attitude of all his shit talking
Bird n Magic should have NBA Royalties!
The biggest thash talker was Larry Bird. Check out that post. Bird would tell the other players what he was going to do before heading down down the court
Bored Film has the very best highlights and documentary films.
No guys, none of those players you said won 3 mvps in a row. Only Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell
No one has won it 3 consecutive years since Larry and he was runner up 4 other years
Magic wasn’t a “starter” his rookie season but played 36 minutes a game and won the title. Magic and Bird were just that special

Magic was the starting point guard. But wasn't the best player on Lakers. Media hype. Who was the MVP of the NBA? Surprise . Kareem. He was the best player on Lakers for 3 of Magics 5 rings. Magic's finals MVP rookie year was media hype. They wanted the Bird Magic rivalry. Kareem had dominated the series. Magic had a big game 6 which was the excuse for giving him MVP
only bill russel and chamberlain take 3 times MVP ever
At about 36:45. The Citywide Celebration. Compare that to the 2021 Chicago "Sky" WNBA Championship Parade.
Nba players already get 50% of the nba's revenue
Larry Joe Bird is still the greatest SF of all time. Larry is that dude, LeDiddy is not.
I love MJ, but Larry has to be in the top 10 & top 5 for me.

Top 2
Larry is the only player to win 3 consecutive MVPs since the merge.
The coach was KC Jones. He was a great coach. He was a player with Bill Russell on those winning teams.
I would put John Stockton up in the top ten NBA players of all time as well. Maybe even top 5. It is very unlikely that anyone could ever beat his assist or steals records in the current NBA. The only person I see having a chance to beat his assist record is Tyrese Haliburton. (And that’s only if he plays for the next 20 years) Also, I highly recommend Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (formerly known as Chris Jackson who played with Shaq at LSU) he could’ve had a great NBA career but he was essentially blackballed from the NBA. He was like Steph Curry, a sniper from 3 point range but the game was different back then so he didn’t get the same opportunity to “let it fly” like Steph got.
Boston lost 3 games at home in 2 years. It was not the refs . It was the Garden. Dead spots in the floor. No air conditioning. Heat worked fine. 65 outside 100 inside. Garden home court advantage
Akeem was still at Houston, he played in 83 NCAA final and lost to NC State
The Garden never had air con . They turned the heat on to slow the Lakers fast break. It was in the 60s outside. Things that make you go hum 😮

didn't the bruins play there? they just laid the floor on the ice?
MJ deserves MVP 3 more times.. no one ever got since Bird 🕊️
Indiana State, except for Larry's time, never made the NCAAs before or since
Don’t know if you watch the WNBA but Caitlin Clark to me and many is called the Larry Bird of the W by many and even now many are calling her true Magic of the W but to me she is a cross between Larry/Magic/Curry with her passing ability, her ability to control the game/Basketball IQ/ her long logo 3s/ her rebounding ability makes her a triple double watch for most of her games and she is only in her rookie year. Only because of her being white makes her controversial and I can see the same thing happening in 20 years when people will look back and realize the true talent and greatness that she was as a player especially when she already has that aura when she enters the stadium that was the same for when Kobe or MJ was announced with the way a crowd reacts especially in a league that couldn’t get sold out crowds now no matter where the fever plays it’s a sold out crowd of 17,000+ to 20,000+ where there are more fans in the audience for the fever then the opposition making away games feel like home games.
Luka is the closest thing to Bird we'll ever get. The major difference is that Luka is weak AF mentally, whereas Bird will drop 50 on you and snatch your soul.
I may have said this here before, but each time I see Bird take the inbounds pass from Isaiah, I want to jump up and say, "AND DJ HIT THE WINNING BASKET!!!" Not taking anything away from LB; just sayin, if DJ hadn't reacted how he did, the Celtics would still have lost the game.

Bird LOVED DJ and gave him full credit at the time.
Only the 3 players named won 3 straight mvp
Y’all really need to check history, Larry Legend is the last player to win MVP 3 yrs in a row.
Kareem won his first ring second year. Wilt got in the way. Magic got a ring rookie year.( He had the MVP of the NBA on his team) Kareem.
BIRD ❤
I f you look closely right after 34:00, youll see Birds left eye is badly bruised, the result of an elbow that fractured his eye orbiter. He didnt miss a game from it.
CC is the new Bird
Nobody has gotten 3 in a row since Bird. lol, Larry Bird is clear.
Shaq won one MVP. He's a great guy and was a force when playing, but...
Example of media hype. Notice the only mentioned Kareems dominance once , when they said Kareem had 30 and Bird had 28 .
Shaq only Mvp 1 time. He has 3 final MVP
Just by the eye test, jordan is and always be the goat. Watch a highlights of jordan, then watch a highlight of lebron, there is no debate. Jordan was a global icon, anybody anywhere in the world knew about jordan, i haedly believe so with lebron
BOOM
15:55 "Larry Bird aint white...he Cream" Im white and I am not offended in fact I like that...I might have to use that hahaha "i aint white Im cream " hahaha I play football (soccer) and I like some 1on 1 dribbling, I have had people talk shit at me , never race based , but people try and put you off talking mad shit, I love it to be honest,, makes me play better, but anyway, always good to pick up some nice lines ;D
Shaq only got 1 MVP, finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th twice each. Larry Legend finished in top 4 MVP voting 9 years in a row winning 3 and finishing 2nd 4 times. Anyone that ranks Shaq over Bird just doesn’t know basketball.
