Spectacular piece of nautical engineering and construction. Outstanding capture.
Великолепное величественное судно❤голландцы-молодцы!👏

The amount of engineering that goes into designing and building a ship like this is mind boggling. When i was a kid a ship of this type, smaller obviously, came into Kahului Harbor on Maui and loaded an entire railroad. Not the cars, but the running gear, locomotives and steel rails. The captain and first mate operated the entire lifting apparatus, it was really amazing to see.

i wonder if there is a video about it (like old footage)?
Shipyards, train whistles, kittens meowing, rain on the leaves, soft thunder, sea gulls calling, my little Penelope's last breath. If they're not in Heaven, I want to go where they are.
😮Woah that's gigantic
Genius designer ship.
23:52 amazing view😍
The engineering of this thing is insane, it's basically a mobile floating dry dock they flood the ballast tanks and the entire hull submerges with just those superstructure towers above the water, then another massive ship is manoeuvred over the submerged hull between the towers and the ballast tanks are pumped out again to lift the ship on top up out of the water.

Wow, a ship with outstanding looking!!!
Designed after one spliff too many in a coffee shop in Amsterdam! Seriously though, what an amazing piece of engineering. A modern wonder.

Stark reminder of Reality. Proper planning, $ , time . Results that last & can be trusted . Congrats to everyone .
I love these kind of vessels
I've been there to the port of Rotterdam, and I hope they soon take back their title as the world's biggest port like it was back in the mid 90's when I was there.
WOW this thing is incredible!!!!
The first one, very futuristic design, and a true engineering marvel of Dutch and Korean naval architecture as well ❤

I didn't realize such ships existed until now.
The ballance is amazing
Now that is a BIG mover !
Cool beans 😎
That s crazy to navigate! 😮
Wow that is a tall pilot house on the lift ship.
So it’s a floating drydock capable of lifting the largest Carnival Line cruise ships. It’s no wonder that Rotterdam is the most advanced engineering design port in the world.
What a mad-looking vehicle.

Wow! The fenders are so big, they have fenders!
Kapal yang sangat besar².
You can almost carry an aircraft carrier on that ship. Maybe not a combat nuclear aircraft carrier but definitely a landing craft helicopter carrier amphibious warfare ship
I can´t say that BOKA VANGUARD is a pretty ship, but it is impressive
Hmm... Interesting. How does it handle in heavy seas: whipping rolls or head on 60 ft swells? Will the towers manage without fractures st the base? Sorry for asking, just interested.

This thing could hoist a Ford-class supercarrier out of the water. That’s bananas.
anyone know of any more specialty crafts like the vanguard? awesome vessel
It must be really strange sailing in that ship
No matter how big a ship, it is still a tiny blip in this vast ocean. And a human being is a super micro blip

Could probably land a C130 if needed! Like to rent a room, too!
@5:23 is that a Callesen diesel I hear? is it coming form the ship with the Dutch flag?
and there is me having trouble parking my normal sized car. how does such a ship which is basically bigger than some villages dock without running everything over?
I wouldn’t want to be on it in rough seas but it’s a nice work of engineering.
Im scared if a guy jumps on the wrong side of that tower the whole thing is gonna snap and fall off
Cor blimey that’s big
Interesting piece of engineering. What is this used for?
IT is easy to recognize the safe distances around the shipping, just on working person's regular.
I feel like in a bad storm or with a rogue wave. That bridge is the first thing to go. I understand you wouldn't use the ship like this in a storm, but typically mother nature has other plans when it comes to that kind of thing

I'd think the tiny frontal area of the bridge "tower" would make it even safer than a normal ship

@@BigTArmada It's got the same likelihood as any other direction, that said, even in the side on profile the superstructure is likely tied into or part of the bulkheads. Finnish design, built by Hyundai, you know the engineering has to be good. I think the ultimate answer is as you said, this ship isn't used in those sort of conditions and steers wide around any inclement weather.
@BigTArmada

@@noahmoore2684 Engineering has no bearing on physics. I'm certain the point of contact between the bridge and hull is reinforced in a multitude of methods, but I'm also sure that placing that tall (and heavy) a structure on what effectively becomes a pivot, creates excess force that need not exist with a different design.
Does anyone have photos or videos from the bridge?)
OCCITAN KEY könnte etwas Pflege vertragen, sehr verrostet das Schiff. Leider sind die mit "Schweröl, Diesel" betriebenen Schiffe nicht besonders umweltfreundlich.
With two fixed, two retractable azimuth thrusters, AND a bow thruster, she still needs a tug to help move about. Talk about unwieldy! This was the last of the hull-up builds for Dockwise before they were bought out by Royal Boskalis Westminister N.V.
Looks like the ship submerges to allow large cargo to float onto its gigantic platform, then the ship floats back upward with yhe cargo and sail away

These semi-submersibles are an amazing technology and are absolute beasts.
Wild machine....that would be a punishing "ejection" to get launched on those lifeboats! BAM!
I wonder if an aircraft carrier would fit on that... a submarine certainly will.
Is that near queensland?
imagine if a ship like that was turned into a billionaire terayacht cruiser, lol. there could be apartments in all of the four towers and a golf course in the middle surrounded by trees
Wonder how much it costs a day to hire
Ship dock wise
Where was it built?
Can this ship been used for recovery of the Fremantele Highway before it sinks?
What is the reasoning behind the sprays of water coming out of the sides of the boat near the paint line difference & anchor drop hole ?
@jacobarthur-os5dc

It's sea water from the engine,
@jacobarthur-os5dc

For the anchor drop hole it's fresh water washing off of dirt from the anchor when it's been heaved up from the ocean

It's Tanker/cargo, what it's?
As I understand it Dockwise commissioned that ship to be built from scratch new. They seemed to take deliver and operated it for 2 or 3 years then sold it?
