Yep that's the stuff dreams are made of for sure! I've only found 1 cache and it was 6 hammer stones and nutting stones lined up in 2 rows from smallest to largest. Incredible to think someone placed them there thousands of years ago and never returned. A cache is one of those monumental finds that stays with you forever

Spike, thanks for the videos. Any show plans for the Tupelo area? Every point I've ever found has been special to me. Is it true what we find in North Mississippi North Alabama are from the Woodland period, 400 to 700 years old? My dad, who is 76, growing up on a farm in N Alabama said they were so common people thought nothing of seeing them on the ground.
@HeartbreakerRelics
Жыл бұрын
The Amory show is coming up in July. Yes they were very common years ago. Now we have to hunt for them lol.
What a treasure and blessing. Lost history if not for luck and effort. Any idea of the time period of the cache?
@gerrypowers9197
Жыл бұрын
Photos of the cache were shared around with several professional archaeologists, the consensus was they are likely Middle Archaic. The creek produced points from late Paleo (Dalton) all the way up through Woodland, many pottery sherds also, so there's a little bit of everything in there.

Am I right in assuming these are mostly preforms? And that when needed they would each be formed into the tool/ weapon desired?.
@HeartbreakerRelics

Yes, you are correct. They are mostly all preforms.
I watch your video s but have never commented. But I just had to when I saw it was 115 blades cache. I live in East Tennessee and have hunted for 40 years . I found a cache of 42 blades early in my career in January 86 only 2 were particularly showing at waters edge, I felt around in the water about a 3 foot area, most were in a 2 foot area. Looked the spot every since 86 found no more. 36 years later in November 2022, I saw 2 inches of what was a 4.5 inch by 3 inches wide at the base blade. Pick it up and underneath was another one and one on it s edge, they were just stacked on each other all in a tite 1.5 foot area. There were basically 3 different sizes the largest on top and the smallest on bottom. The number 115 and 1 arrowhead don't really know if it was part of it or not but it was rite with the blades. So it did happen twice in a lifetime but it was nearly a lifetime between the two finds.

Hello sir. I live in Pensacola and recently found 2 arrow heads hidden in the back of a piece of furniture that was made in New Orleans in the 1800's. I sure would like to know how old and what they are. To think a man held these hundreds or thousnads of years ago shocks me.

This reminds me of when I first started metal detecting. I had only owned my first metal detector for about six months, and I found three Union plates, and one confederate Virginia state seal belt buckle. All within about a month of each other lol. Since then, I haven't found any plates in 20 years ha ha..

New york state the town of wellsville new york.. The river I went with a few friends. And we found quite a few arrow heads in the river.. As well as a farmers field.. After they got done plowing the field, we was allowed out there to find arrow heads and spearheads.. I found a pounding stone.. That thing was in the river.. We had a blast doing it .. The man's name was norman ives.. Is full blood seneca .. The seneca nation of indians.. That man was fun to be with.. He's been gone for quite a while and I miss going out and doing this.. Right now i'm stuck stranded in arkansas.. Not too sure where to go around here..
What era is this cash from? I'm thinking archaic, but not sure.

@@HeartbreakerRelics so if people were out there hunting gathering thousands of years ago, how could one person or even a couple people make all of these or need this many UNLESS they were preparing for a war or something. I just cant imagine how hard it was to survive 1000-3000 years ago.
I’d be worried those were for a ceremonial burial.
