There was no need for any reboots. If Eidos wanted to start anew -- the end of Underworld was a perfect opportunity for Lara to set out on a new adventure and uncover a new mystery (not linked to her family). I remember a lot of people not liking Crystal Dynamics's version of Lara in Legend, Anniversary, Underworld, but imo, she was a lot closer to classic Lara than the character they call Lara Croft now.

They litreally created knock off uncharted version lara, the reason is LAU is flopped (even best games still in my heart) they didnt even managed to promote it these games even fans uploaded trailers in youtube + back in 2008-06 social media wasnt that big it was such tragedy to see these games sold really low they litreally true essence of tomb raider.

I first played this in 6th grade. Now I'm 24 and Lara is still a model for me, I replay the game 1-2 times per year and I love running around the Manor

TR Legend has something that the games from Underworld and on don't have. It's called fun! You can see how Lara enjoys every bit of her adventure in TR Legend and she faces death with humor!! She loves what she's doing and that's what the newer TRs are missing....

+hebince44 Well, I believe that her personality builds.... I mean , she can't be a total badass in her very first adventure. Neither could she discover her sexuality so early because she didn't have confidence at this time... I don't believe she was rude either ( I'm referring to TR2013 ) . She was scared , sweet and really sympathetic and at the same time strong and cruel. And I liked that. She could handle the situation better than anyone else!! I agree that the previous Lara really was a badass " Lady Croft " . The series needs more raised eyebrows , more jokes and more tomb raiding! I think that the " tomb raiding " stuff is under control ( I haven't seen anyone complaining about tombs in ROTTR , although I haven't played it yet... ) I'm positive that CD will bring the cunning archaeologist back where she belongs.... Back where Tomb Raider Legend was....

I hope that too, but too many SJWs in gaming industry, look what they did too Mass Effect Andromeda, because of them I left gaming industry because whole new wave of people that came in and destroyed it. And usually SJWs were the worst artist, only what they were good at was dealing with politics in studio and pretending to be nerdy and focusing more on social aspects than on look of games and art. I hope that SJW trend in game industry will die soon.

The picture used in this, coupled with the music that brings back so many memories, and I just feel so sad. We'll never see this type of gameplay or this Lara (aside from in spin-offs) in TR again. :(

This is still my favorite TR game. I've lost count of how many times i've played and completed it, but i still don't grow tired of it. I love Lara in this game. She has such a real lifelike personality. This version of her is a person that i could actually see existing in real life. Let's also not forgot the very many quotable moments this game had as well. Hopefully we see a remaster someday.

I really tried to like the new one, but I just couldn't. When "Lara" just whines and then absorbs missiles from a helicopter, falls down a cliff, boulders fall on her and nothing happens to her. She doesn't even fall and stand up, she just keeps killing a whole population of mercenaries... then wtf?

Legend (and Underworld too) has such a beautiful and ancient sound to it, that you just melt right into it! It's like an magical-ancient-jungle-adventure-epicness! But, still has a lot of calming music too, like the Croft Manor. :-)

Stunning music, takes me right back into the games.

I've only recently become a fan of the Tomb Raider franchise, so I'll never know the feeling of nostalgia that most of you feel, sadly. However what I can say is that out of the tomb raider games I have played, Legend is by far my favourite, as well as having the best soundtrack! Such quality, such class, much better than the more recent Tomb Raiders, for sure ;)

@@tobysmith8697 It was a great game with potential, that was unfortunately plagued with bugs and poor testing leading to clunky controls and unreliable camera... It was rushed and it showed. I still like the story, the slightly different take on the franchise, the locations and the music.

I was always fan of classic tomb raider games, but this one was one of my favorite, because brought together feeling of classic games with modern gaming. Too bad they didn continue in this direction.

But I have to agree, the last TR I played (the last one prior the latest one, I presume) was quite a disappointment, both in game and soundtrack. Legend was one of the best I've played. One of the very first computer games I've ever played was Tomb Raider. Back in year 1997. God am I old?!

The reboot is a bunch of other games mashed together and a plot that pisses me off because 1. Anyone that's ever played Tomb Raider KNOWS she's not going to die, no matter how many times the game suggests she is, and 2. Makes me boil to know that THAT is the reason she's Lara Croft today. In overall terms Legend has the best OST in the Tomb Raider series by far.

My favourite TR game of all time, it has such fond memories attached to it for me. I remember feeling like such a badass when I got the Excalibur cheat code and ran around the manor for hours swinging it

Setting aside the original game for classic purposes, Legend was by far the best TR game, and a great game, period. This should have been the basis for the series going forward for a long time. Masterpiece!

there's something that feels adventure-y and grand about the main theme. Legend and Angel of Darkness take top spots as the best main themes in my opinion. Both are equally epic and carry the game extremely well. Legend's overall soundtrack could probably be the best out of the trilogy!

Love the ambient of Croft Manor. Her parents were rich, like old English money rich. Her father was an archeologist I believe.

The OST of this game is something from another world. God, it's so good

I loved legend,anniversary and underworld to some extent but not entirely but I will not play the new games. They just went too far imo. the games are always meant to be arcade and fun not to make the player feel terrible. I don't care about lara's backstory I just want to navigate giant places,shoot some soldiers/monsters, solve puzzles and find artifacts and legend/anniversary had all of this and was fun as heck.

+minigunexo the new games have just that and totally don't make the player feel terrible, in fact it feels smoother and there's emphasis on stealth, endurance and some minor crafting, while the combat all together is times better than in any other of the older Tom Raider games. You're missing out if you don't play them.

I know I’m in the minority with these comments, but I loved the TR reboot. The first of the three was the best. But Legend was by far my favorite of the franchise, best music/storyline/character design by far. I remember how outraged people were that they made her boobs smaller, and I was just thinking “thank GOD”. Anyone with big boobs knows that scaling walls and doing half the athletic stuff Lara does would be either impossible or just very painful in real life. As for the trauma backstory in the reboot, if Lara was not traumatized by the events on the island there would be something very wrong with her-like sociopathic levels of wrong. She didn’t let it completely derail her life though, she continued on and did what she had to do to get over it. The comics were awesome too, that was the first time I ever collected an entire comic book series and subscribed so I could get them as they came out. I hated The Last Jedi and I envy anybody who was able to ignore its problems and enjoy it, so I’m really glad I was able to do that with the TR reboot, because Lara’s been my role model and inspiration for decades now.

This Soundtrack brings me back so many memories...playing this game on Nintendo Ds when I was 7 was awesome.

One of the best soundtracks I ever heard. Anniversary and Underworld were good, but they let go of some of the style and instrumentation that made this one so memorable.

Great soundtrack this one although still does not rival Tomb Raider II OST for its time was bang on the money for the Tomb Raider franchise.
