    during the afternoon was up on the hilltop behind where you were shooting from. Then I caught the Swat team exiting the freeway from the opposite of the street. right before the end I move into another parking lot with a better view of the crane. The place was all filled with news media, loudlabs and a bunch of stringers ive never seen before.

    Haven't read too many comments so sorry if these questions have been answered. I noticed one 05 Crown Vic at the beginning quarter of the video with a steady burn front facing red light but rear facing amber and red lights; was this LAFD instead of LAPD? Also, is the Tac Medic Unit you are mentioning the LAPD Rescue 4? Do they act as Paramedics from LAFD that respond on high priority calls for LAPD as Tac Physicians, or are they officers from LAPD that just have ALS training? Where I am from on the East Coast we primarily have volunteer fire departments, and combined ALS teams for situations like this which is why I am curious as to how operations go in bigger cities on the West Coast. Love the content even though this is an older video. Thanks!

    Why do so many cops in CA have red lights that don't work?

  • @trevornash3949

    @trevornash3949

    6 жыл бұрын

    Steve Franklin CA law requires a forward facing steady burning red light on all emergency vehicles. I think it has something to do with when beacons were really slow the steady red was easier to track and more visible than a slow rotating beacon. Kind of like how NY doesn’t allow forward facing blues. Kinda weird for CA nowadays but I think it’s kind of cool personally.

    Steve Franklin yeah sometimes when the stuff gets older it starts to not work right,and sometimes you won't see the amber light in the back that is also a California law.

    its a cali law, steady burns are required on emergency vehicles

  • @bullwinkle6483

    @bullwinkle6483

    I think Steve is referring to the cars that did not have their red/blues on. It was simply because they did not need them. Good response practice is not to distract other drivers if it is not necessary. And with the low volume of traffic here, it wasn't necessary. So they left them turned off--it has nothing to do with being old or broken.

  • @CapnBabs205

    Would be LAFD I believe. CA state law is that only law enforcement can have blue lights. LAFD would be all red to the front. That said, I'm not from CA, so if I'm wrong, please let me know!
