LAPD 1972 AMC Matador Adam 12 Squad Car Code 3
Here you will see the classic 1972 Matador using it's siren while leaving the Cops Cars Coffee event in Beverly Hills. I want to thank the owner of the car for answering my questions and putting on the siren for me!

I work at a car dealer that does body work on cop cars, sometimes I get to drive them back to the station when they are repaired. It is all I can do to stop myself from getting on the radio and saying "One Adam 12 see the man!!!
Install separate flasher controls for the rear ambers and it will be 100% accurate. They need to flash independently.
“one Adam 12 one Adam 12, 211 in progress, one Adam 12 handle code 3” haha that’s classic I love it!

South Bay Fire Buff Reminds me of L.A. Noire!
Police muscle car! Nice! They're hard to find.
Reed and Malloy never found the "Yelp" setting on the siren (neither did Johnny or Roy) LOL
Gorgeous :O

Love that show !
Sounds awesome 👌
I watch the show for all the great looking cars
It looks like the Adam-12 patrol car, but the siren does not sound like the one used for the TV show. The siren sound that was used for Adam-12 is a recording of a mid-1960s Federal PA20 electronic siren. It's a much older siren than the one that is installed in the 1972 AMC Matador.
i still watch that show

Sweet video
Strange did you know that adam 12 and squad 51 shared the same siren since squad 51's siren was doubled in via sound effects , the original squad did not have a working siren
The Matador was available with just about any engine that AMC offered, starting with the lowly 3.8L (232 cid) I6, with the 4.2L (258 cid) I6, 5.0L (304 cid) V8, 5.9L (360 cid) V8 and the 6.6L (401 cid) V8. curb kerb weight 3518.578 pounds. To bad car is so heavy but still with a large engine it will go. Better than any police car today including the mustang or charger. I've even seen them use Volvos.
I've seen this car in a car show in Rutherford NJ
Wow! :o

Greater Toronto Area Emergency Videography Wow indeed! Thanks!
Ah the AMC Matador! One of the finest patrol cars ever produced! The 341 ci V8 could haul like crazy and it was a big, spacious car that was pretty agile. Up there with the Crown Vic PI, Dodge Gran Fury and the boxy Caprices with the Chevy small block. Worst would have to be the "whale on wheels" rounded Caprice, Plymouth Caravelle and a few others. Whale Caprices were slow, hung around corners and had soft and mushy handling, while the Caravelle was too small, gutless and had an AWFUL turning radius.

This has the correct 401.
only thing missing are the curb feelers. The AMC Matador was the only car Maloy and Reed rode in that had them
Not the original siren, but a beautiful shop, nonetheless!
Sad you still have to put a out of service sign on it even thought its what 46 year old car
Even though it's an A M C the engine sounded pretty strong
Big 401 underneath the hood!

Nope it’s a 304 but has dual exhaust. How do I know? Easy, I built that car.
With Chains and Knives
I sure missed the Plymouth Fury most of all.
1Adam 12 Roger!
At 0:08, the wiring is a little messed up with the siren. P.S. I know it's a 70s car but I thought I might point it out anyway.

Actually the speaker is a newer one mounted behind the grill hence the different sound. The roof speaker was gutted to save weight as it’s heavy. I still have the huge magnet from it. I built this car but later sold it.

One Adam 12 see da mammy.
Sounds like a 350 Small Block
Why is the back flashing but the front isn't?
@greenghost9342
Жыл бұрын
Because California State Law says at least one of the front emergency lights has to stay ON (without flashing.......and the rear emergency lights has to have a amber color (flashing).....or so I was told
AMC Matador was seemingly a good car.
Is the car in the video a Matador or Belvedere? It looks like a Belvedere not a Matador.
@jesselaird9698

Well, one clue might be the "Matador" badge on the hood
So that's a Matador
Doesn’t have the correct wheels (15”) and if my memory serves the hub caps ((are regular civilian 14 “wheel caps
Ha ha my name is Adam
Matador was no wimp. It could move PRN. AMC Rip.
Car was equipped with seat belts. Woops, they never used them. That's show business....lol.
Who's the hottie walking down the sidewalk...lol
ITS A BOAT
Front warning lights were stuck/not flashing

You can google the CA steady burn red light law. In this case, this is a replica police car. Its lights may have been disabled in order to make it road legal. Who knows.

Actually, the rear lights on the LAPD cars didn't flash either. The producer of Adam-12, Jack Webb, had the rear lights changed to a flash pattern for the show.
@11john11x

The rear lights always flashed, the pattern of the flashing was just changed for the show, in the show they had the simple right-left pattern, in real life both rear flashers had different flasher speeds, one flashing faster than the other one, creating a quite weird looking effect.
Want a be
Not good.
