Very well said. We should consider a language is a language if the two persons talking cannot understand each other though they have the same accent, and intonation. Bikol have the same accent and grammar construction with Cebuano, but they cannot understand in other words used therefore they are different languages. Bol-anon and Siquijodnon have different accent and intonation compared to Sugbuhanon or Central Cebuano but similar words and sentence construction in used, likewise can understand each other, therefore it's dialect a variation of Cebuano. Waray is different because they have similar words used but different in meaning, though they have the same accent and intonation. Same with Hiligaynons, there are words that similar to Cebuano in used but different in meaning. Therefore they cannot understand each other or else war exists if you insist that they are both the same because I myself can speak these languages and sometimes I think first before I speak due to some reasons that I used words that both cannot understand but they are using on it.

    - There are 100 languages. - Languages are broader, and dialect are smaller and more specific, and often regional. - Dialect is a variation of language as long as the two people understand each other.

-Languages are broader, and dialects are smaller and more specific Language allows us to share our ideas, thoughts, and feelings with others. Dialects Retain Identity Many cultures use different words or pronunciations for the same thing. Unique pronunciations help give a culture its identity.

Three things: 1) dialect is variation of a language. Ex. Iba tagalog sa quezon province kumpara valenzuela, or bisaya sa bohol kumpara surigao. Same language pero may variation (dialect) 2) bisaya, binisaya and cebuano are one and the same. Parang tagalog/'filipino' language. Waray-waray (eastern visayas) and hilagaynon/ilonggo (western) are separate LANGUAGES. Di sila 'dialect' ng cebuano/bisaya 3) colloquially, bisaya is a language (cebuano/binisaya), while visayan refers to lugar/geography Kaya an ilonggo is visayan (lugar) but not bisaya (language), while a dabawenyo is mindanaoan (lugar) but also bisaya (language)

The prof's answer to the origin of language maybe true ONLY for spoken languages. Languages can be purely (1) oral/verbal, (2) visual or (3) written ..or a combination of any of the 3. Early humans/humanoids may have used a language even before, or way after, they had the ability to "speak" or make sounds with their voice. Where or how did language start? It started with the need for beings (humans/animasl) to communicate (to express and to be understood). Language is cultural.... so the origin of language cannot, or can never really be established (unless you can definitively establish the start of culture), because sounds/gestures/signs/writings do not have meaning unless these matching of signs/words+meaning is mutually agreed upon/shared/used by a group or community.

According to stupid and idiot(Sariling opinion, imahinasyon) Dialect means regional, local, indigenous language According to dictionary(Katotohanan) Dialect means distinct and regional variety of a language Kaya ang dialect ay variation ng wika. English dialects is the variation of distinct version of English language. Spanish dialects is the variation of distinct version of Spanisn language. Language: Aramaic Dialects: Palestinian Aramaic, Assyrian Neo Aramaic Language: Japanese Dialects: Kansai dialect, Ibaraki dialect, Mikawa dialect, Tokyo dialect Language: Tagalog Dialects: Manila dialect, Tanay Paete, Morong dialect, Tayabasin, Batanghenyo ,Bataan, Bulakenyong Tagalog, Caviteñong Tagalog.

Cebuano is language, their dialects are: Bol-anon, Siquijodnon, Dumagueteño, Davaweño, Bukidnon, Misamis, Pagadianon. Kidapaweño, etc. Bisaya is people living in Visayas. Binisaya is another term for Cebuano because other Cebuano-speaking decline to accept the Cebuano as their tribe because they're living outside Cebu. They consider Cebuano as the people living in Cebu as Davaweño living in Davao.
