Language Switch Reactions: Chinese, Japanese & English in TOKYO: Shocking People and Making Friends

The message is that "politics are politics and people are people". I've lived in China and Japan for 8 years and gone to university in both countries, proving language abilities is not the point of this channel. I'm here for a much more important reason: To show that everyday people don't have to hate each other. I am stuck in between 3 countries that I love as they fight and bicker with each other. Today's video is a quick 7 minute trip to a local Chinese supermarket, but it shows that the power of language and human friendship. Today we are speaking Fluent Chinese & Japanese, breaking stereotypes and making friends despite the rivalry between our countries. How shocked are people when I speak Chinese and Japanese to them? Take a look.
Below are language learning tools I have personally used for years. Direct purchases of software from these links goes to supporting this channel.

Politics are politics and people are people. That’s the message I want to spread. As our governments fight and bicker with each other we cannot forget this point. I can’t make very many of these supermarket videos nowadays, but I took every precaution possible to do this video safely in my Tokyo neighborhood today and get this message out. Please stay safe and keep fighting my friends. -Anming

People who learn a foreign language during adulthood and manage to reach fluency are super impressive. Kudos! Sometimes I come across videos of foreigners who were born/raised in a certain country and people are so amazed when they speak the language fluently. But what else do they expect...? It's their first language! People like you, however, who reach fluency through hard work and dedication are so inspiring to see. Much love!

The thing you need to get over is a certain 'hump' as an adult. As a kid, your language skills in your own language are limited too, so you can express yourself freely way earlier, and learn the more complicated stuff as you grow up more. As an adult, to express yourself how you want to express yourself, you need to get to a level where you can do that, which is considerably higher than a kid's. Once you're over that hump, going from that level to fluency is simply a matter of using the language more. At that point, you can freely use monolingual dictionaries, ask people about words you don't understand and will understand their explanations and so on.

It is the only way to learn fast. She is good at it but I disagree with what she said to the girl @4:00 about needing education to learn, you can teach yourself and speak it whenever you can as that is what children do. I learned Chinese by myself back in 2004 and just spoke to every Chinese person I could find at the time.

When ever I see you going to these Supermarkets it is always very entertaining and I think, this poor girl is doing this because she knows we all love it so much . This one was particularly good because the man in the store was just as impressed if not more than we are when you switch so effortlessly between Chinese and Japanese, and he truly seemed amazed by your Chinese Mandarin being Chinese himself . Once again Thank you for your sacrifice it can't be easy but you make it look like nothing. Respect Pearl , wishing you continued good health and mental strength and happiness.
