He played the entire piece perfectly. He is truly a GREAT Pianist/Musician in the truest sense of the word. The orchestra was absolutely brilliant, magnificent players. BRAVO, ALL!

Yes, and you know why? Because they simply OBSERVE what is the cheapest, most tasteless conduct ever seen on a concert stage. Anyone who's half-awake can perceive that this actor/pianist is deliriously in love with himself. Nearly every gesture he makes is embarrassingly out of place, and therefore deserving of the most profound negative criticism. And speaking of the latter, at the "prestissimo" section of the 2nd movement, and at the final pages of the concerto, here we go again, with Lang's "You-won't-believe-how-fast-I-can-tear-through-this" stupid choices of tempo. The poor conductor was compelled to "go along with" these outrageous (and uncalled-for) speeds, but I wonder what his thoughts were from a musical standpoint. And what were the thoughts of the audience as they observed these mockingly disproportionate tempos? Silly question! They LOVED it; why wouldn't they, discriminating as they are?

Absolutely beautiful performance of this Tchaikovsky´s masterpiece. I heard it maybe hundred of times in my life and I can listen to this piano concerto all the time and never boring. Lang Lang is a real genius and all members of Berliner Filharmoniker as well. Thanks for sharing.

Yo hace más de 40. Años lo oí en el Amadeo Roldán por la orquesta sinfónica de el teatro en la Habana Cuba.Chaikoski un genio de la música así como otros conciertos de el.Su bella música existirá por siempre

I don't think "Mr. Tchaikovsky" even conceived this piece as having the type of "emotion" displayed (and I mean 'displayed"!) here by Lang.

Llevo escuchando este concierto de Peter Ilich desde mi adolescencia y tengo 73 años, grandes orquestas y pianistas lo han tocado pero con diferencia ... este es el mejor concierto que he escuchado Bravo por el director, los maestros y Lang Lang, no hay palabras para describir el sentimiento que aportan a esta obra . No, no - - he's too old to be called a prodigy which by definition is a child. However, because of his, as you say. unique style, he could be called different things - - a whole bunch of different things.

To "memorize so many pieces of music notes' in a concerto of this sort, compared to a work such as Prokofiev's 5th, would be child's play for any professional pianist.

What's incredible? If I'm not mistaken, Andre Watts and Alexander Malofeev played this concerto at ages 17 and 18 respectively (just to mention rwo out of dozens).

Lang Lang AND Simon Rattle have such ‘baby faces’ in this video. I can’t believe it is almost 20 yrs old! Some European audiences remain quiet after 1st movement but if some applause starts anyway, they will follow.

We don't know how Liszt conducted himself at the piano, but it's safe to say that without cameras all around him, it would've been pointless to make all these faces which only a few audience members could see. Of course, arm gestures are visible by everyone, no matter where they're situated. Liszt was a pianist-showman. Reverse those two words, and you describe Lang. My description of him, though, would require more than two words - - a lot more.

Liszt is said to have been flamboyant, but I'll bet my Steinway that he was incapable of descending to the level of Lang's cloying, seductive, imbecilic, silly-ass smiling style.

Ho ascoltato per la 1’ volta tutto il concerto nr 1 di Tchaikovsky con Lang Lang al piano e Simon Rattle alla direzione.un concerto che contempla poche pause per il solista sempre attento e quasi sempre assorto nell’’eseguire magistralmente la musica perché quando è in pausa l’orchestra Lang Lang fa valere le due doti di perfezionista senza mai eccedere quando i movimenti si fanno più infuocati e rilassante per le migliaia di spettatori che affollano in un crepuscolo d ‘estate il bellissimo anfiteatro di Berlino Lang Lang da sempre il meglio di se Complimenti e al prossimo concerto anche se non partecipo dal vivo 🎉
