    @@Twylightt wow! I posted that 8 years ago but here’s some good news, I still own the Laney! It’s great for home can plug it into a daw with usb! without speaker being connected! good for recording and playing more quietly. it’s got a great clean channel, crunchy drive but it’s not like a full blooded Marshall if you want something more heavy. Great for cleans, classic rock and blues but not for something like metal

    @@Twylightt personally I prefer using it at 5w, I think its the better of the two settings but I am not saying 0.5 is rubbish, I think 5w has a bit more in the sound. I like to put the amp through a 2x12 cab. i have used it with the USB connection which was pretty good for recording.

    Can someone answer me this: The soundbytes comparing the ribbon mic, the DI and the USB out sound relatively good on the clean segments, and are pretty similar. However, the gainy/crunchy segment was really mushy on both the DI and USB outs. Does recording the DI and/or USB out require additional output loading/cab sim before it is useable in a recording? Cheers

  • @lothar34

    @lothar34

    9 жыл бұрын

    +ktulu193 he mentioned a switch in the back that has speaker emulation. I assume he had that on during the demo so nothing else would be needed on the software side. To my ears the DI and USB sound do a little duller. I'm also guessing he kept all the settings exactly the same and perhaps the DI/USB could have used a bit more treble to sound it's best, or perhaps some post EQ. Definitely usable though. That's probably not a cheap mic either so I wouldn't expect the other methods to be as good.

    Laney is way ahead of the completion when it comes to recording. The pulse is only the beginning. The Ironheart IRT Studio USB and Lionheart L5 tube amps are fabulous for recording. The D.I outputs the unaffected, input signal on the left and the amped signal on the right. The amp signal is taken from the output transformer. Output tube glassy cleans to distortion! The competition takes the D.I signal from the preamp. That’s a monstrous, daylight and dark, difference! KUDOS to Laney! I have an L20H and LT212. For recording purposes, I wish I had a L5H Studio.
