These floods almost killed me. I was supposed to go on a trip to Madhya Pradesh. I left my school at 2:45 pm and reached my home at 3:15 pm. I wanted to buy and bring some sweets with me but my parents said that we were running out of time, so we began our journey at 3:45 pm. By the time we crossed the Uttar Pradesh border, my friend, Arjunat called me. It was not good news. A cloudburst centred on the town and flooded the area so badly almost nobody had survived. Everything including our family home got sent away. He said that he and his parents were stranded in their car while trying to escape the floods and soon to be landslide after that. He told me the rains began 15 minutes after I left. If I had waited for my sweets instead of going on time, I wouldn’t be typing this comment right now.

Ya heavy rain but when we have constantly encroach on mountainous forest areas building our houses, then, we have to pay consequences. If the trees had still been there, there would have been no landslide, in the first place.

What amazes me is that none of the houses we could see collapsed. Good builder and Quality of concrete. That being said this must have been terrifying to experience. Hope no one was killed. Wishing you all psychological recovery from this.

Himalayas are young fold mountains and excessive rainfall causes most of the landslides! Yes humans are a little bit responsible but the rainy season is a big factor for landslides

Landslides became prominent after the cloud burst. Every other hour there was a landslide and it destroyed most things in the way. There were casualties too with massive destruction of nature and man made infrastructure!

It's actually cloud brust. It happens on like dozen places in my state in last two weeks. In this million litres of water fall on small area which will tear out trees and with soil mixture becomes viscous.

To experience a flood is an understatement. We were rescued by our neighbors from a flashflood in 2018, it was raining pretty hard and we also had a typhoon called Basyang. We only saved our phones for communication and the clothes in our back. We lost everything in that flood😢
