Landscape Vlog 15 - Cushendall, Co Antrim

A landscape photography Vlog from the Salmon Rock at Cushendall, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland.
I feel the need to apologise for the lack of 'fancy footage', drone clips, B roll etc. I almost didn't vlog this morning but decided at the last minute to do so and to keep it simple. Hope you enjoy!

Great images Steven. I just got the Firecrest holder, second time using it tomorrow. Really impressed, I love the way you can take the whole thing off in one go and stick it in your bag but the polariser stays on the lens. Great bit of kit and also about half the price of the Lee system

Hi Steven, Awesome channel you've got here! I was curious about the new Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Holder - do you experience any vignetting at 16mm? Keep up the beautiful work!

great shot. what is your preferred filter system. Lee or format-hitech? secondly I would love to see a post processing video and see some of your technique following the use of filter systems.

Great video, loving your stuff. Just curious why you have the stabilizer on the lens on since your on a tripod? Is it because of the wind?

Oscar Guzman I noticed too but at a guess I would say Steven forgot to turn it off but then again I might be wrong! I forget sometimes! :(

Oscar Guzman why would you turn it off? Surely it'll help the shot..

  • @Boundey

WoodCPhotography you would turn it off as it counteracts the stability of a tripod and can sometimes cause a jaggered unsharp effect.

Chris Boundey huh. I never knew that before. I've never had any issues, but I'll do a comparison next time I do Aurora Borealis shots and look into it. Thanks

Yeah there is a thing called 'Shake Return' (google it!). Best turn the IS off when on a tripod, having said that, all the images from this Vlog ended up being sharp... :)

Hey oh! New to your channel, but I'm starting to wonder.. Why do Europeans only shot a few images of a location? I personally find a great composition and shoot until the sun goes down... Can you shed some information on this?

Hey Steven,I follow you on twitter, love the videos as they are a great insight into your work. I have just started to take landscape photography seriously, and because of a limited budget am gradually building up my kit. What filter would you say is the most useful you have and you would not do with out?

Hi Andrew, I rely heavily on ND Grads, probably my most used one would be a 0.9ND Grad. You get them in either soft or hard edge (I use both). Check out the Formatt-Hitech 0.9 ND Grad Soft Edge.

Thanks Steven, Actually bought my first and grad a couple of months ago, a Lee 0.6 soft grad. I think your right and 0.9 would if been more useful, will hopefully give those hitech filters a try in the future.

Hi Andrew, yeah I don't use the 0.6 ND Grad that often to be honest.
