This lecture reviews the landmark trials that have helped to shape surgical care of breast cancer over the past 50 years. The focus here is primarily on surgical literature (rather than medical or radiation oncology literature). Nodal status, hormone receptor status, recurrence scores, new therapies, and future directions in surgical management of breast cancer are all discussed.
