    i looked down on the people living like that until I lost my job, got cheated on and had a bad accident then depression hit me and it was awful. Couldn’t move, work or stay awake. Spent months in my bed can’t do anything not even taking a shower, always exhausted and my room looked worst than this . I am still struggling and trying my best. Asking for help from people who care about me and im grateful to have them in my life. The moral of the story is be careful of judging other people because that could be happening to you at any moment and you will not be able to help it.

However this place was exceedingly filthy and I be happy with what the accomplished but let's look at realistically.

    My cousin always says that life has a way of making you shut your mouth. So to everyone who has no compassion and can only judge the people living in this apartment, keep living. You never know what could happen to put you in a situation that you swore you would never be in. Have a heart people! They asked for help and got help. That's the first step.

    This much more than a regular maid service though. I use to work for a cleaning company and if got called to a house like we wouldn’t touch it. We’d refer the owners to more a disaster cleanup crew. It was beyond our skills and we didn’t have the right type of equipment and tools for a job like this. I’d go home so sore, back pain, knots, cramps, my feet hurt, my knees hurt, my hands hurt so I amazed by these guys.

    Ya, not many people think of window sills, ceiling fans (the blades), walls, baseboards, light fixtures, especially those attached to the ceiling, all the bugs & debris that can collect… around faucets depending upon the material, a ring of rust can accumulate… But regardless that needs to be cleaned. I find baking soda & vinegar to be good, basic cleaning agents to keep around. No toxins & the shine on things like sinks & stainless steel - amazing!

    My heart breaks for those poor kids. I grew up in a filthy house with cockroaches. My father an abusive alcoholic, my mother with such deep depression she rarely got out of bed. This left my sister and I to basically fend for ourselves for the first 13 years of my life until my mother found the courage to leave my father. Thankfully my father has been sober since then (30+ years now), my mother is currently enjoying the first year of her retirement and I have undiagnosed OCD with keeping a spotless home because I refuse to ever let myself live in filth again. So happy this family got the help they needed to get back to a clean, safe home. I hope they also get help for whatever underlying issues caused this to happen in the first place. No matter how bad you feel, a parent should never allow a child to live like this.

    The place in the video is an apartment and still in good shape and fairly new, no need to gut it and remodel (they don’t own it, so they couldn’t do that anyway) remodeling in the states a lot of times is for aesthetic purposes and not for the longevity of the house. Fortunately, as dirty as it was, it was all surface dirt and didn’t really affect the base materials of the home.

    I've always kept things very clean. And my home was never as bad as this one, but I had a humbling experience a few years ago. I moved to a different climate and mysteriously started getting sick. My blood work was so bad, they thought I might have leukemia or something equally terrible. So I started seeing specialists for 2 years. The sicker I got, the more it felt like a long drawn out chore just to wash dishes or shower. I found out it was Lupus and living in a subtropical area and the strong sun was bringing it out of dormancy. After i knew what it was I started working around the sun and do most things when its dark and uv index is low, until i can afford to relocate. And most of my energy is back, most sypmtoms under control. But I'll never forget how it felt to start to decline and weaken. If they wouldnt have figured it out, who knows how bad it would've got. I was scared and alone. I had no relatives that would help, no children, and not dating. So there was no help. I had a half sister I didnt really know that talked me into moving down here, but she made it worse. Her and her husband were happy and excited when they thought i might have cancer, and tried to talk me into giving up my apt and move in with them so they can get a big check while I waste away. Then when they found out its an auto immune disorder, they were disappointed. But still trying to bank on my suffering. And made sure I had to walk to the store, ect while I was pretty sick. They thought I would yield, but I didn't. I would rather collapse bringing toilet paper home walking in the dark than give in to them and give up my independence. Now, most of the time I have the energy to do most everything. But when i see this kind of stuff I think about how that could've happened to me. And how before getting sick, it was so easy and quick to do things. Its tempting to think others are lazy, ect when you havent been in their shoes.

    @@ZosiaSamosiaOoI'm always baffled how people use "depression" as an excuse to be filthy, to behave rude towards friends and family, to not do anything etc. If your leg was broken, if you had permanent headaches etc - you'd seek help from a doctor, too. But you are "depressed" so you just chose not to do anything and just accept your fate and accept to live in a filthy home. For how long? Forever? Seeing a doctor is essential to getting better, no matter if the illness is physical or mental. Also the other commentor is right as well - tackling small tasks such as simply making your bed after getting up, can already help you gain more control and get a small feeling of accomplishment. Plus most people with "depression" are either wrongly self diagnosed or misdiagnosed by a doctor, because 90% of people who feel depressed, won't feel that way if they had a job, a stable family/friends circle, eat properly, get daily exercise, sunshine and fresh air. Most people who feel depressed, are only feeling this way because of their current living situation - which can always be changed! - and not because there's actually something wrong with their brain on a longterm condition.

    I get depressed sometimes but then my anxiety get high when things are out of order. It's a constant battle between the two but since i started smoking I am able to zone out and clean without getting overwhelmed and shutting down. I know some people frown on smoking weed but it helps when it comes to doing cleaning tasks that can be overwhelming and in return my anxiety has gone way down so now i am also able to sleep. I hope others can find what works for them.

    If it works 🤷🏼‍♀️ I hate pot! Tried it many years ago, upon maybe 4-5 different occasions. I know it must affect people differently. It has to! Because I was paranoid. All I wanted to do was sleep. Yes, I laughed at things more than I would otherwise, but that was brief. The whole experience was totally NOT worth it! I could never figure out why people said it made them “high.” For me it was the lowest low I’ve ever experienced. If I wanted to get something done, like cleaning or school work, pot would be the absolute last thing I would think of doing. No, I take that back. It would not even occur to me.

    Well done everyone in the video and well done family that found the strenght (/panic) to call them in for help. Tackling something like that even if one is the cause of it, is monumentally challenging. So, good for the family and kudos for the cleaning crew! Such an incredible result ❤ (& to those negative comments and such: It is clear you lot have never had these issues so to whine about "how the fanily could let it go so far" I only have to write: put yourselves in their shoes and do not think on how you lot would behave. Think instead of the challanges they must have had and to even ask for help and swallow every ounce of "shame/prise/should be able to do it on my own" and actually accept the help once it arrives, that is something huge and monumental for people in that situation. ) So very well done all in the video!😊

    @Dayisnear

    @@dianeshelton9592 Quite honestly that is a rader twoedged opinion. On one hand, a part of me do agree on the no children bit. Have you ever known anyone in this or a similar situation? Have you ever asked why rather than should? If one do have kids while also struggling with various degrees of mental illnesses and situations, then that should becomes monumental. Then on top of it the probable underlaying guilt and shame and how a simple question of ” can you help me clean?” Can become the greatest wall of shut down and then lets add the societies on how one should do things. And not one person or being deservs the shame and guilt no matter the past or reasons behind that level of messiness but to get desperate and/or getting some snsemof selfawareness to ask to help them get up to speed, then yeah, all the strength and kudos for that family. If you have known how it is, and/or have spoken with or tried a LOT to put yourself in that position, then I have to ask, why do you feel so strongly about how it should be? I could imagine a lot of reasons, though I also am asking if you want to elaborate that answer a bit more ‘cause I for one want to learn the opinions and why’s to that thought process too.

    Sorry your English is odd a radar edged opinion is an odd expression. If you are asking can I imagine circumstances where any parent would allow their children to be brought up in those circumstances. Then no I can’t , because I myself have known families if the worst of circumstances who, they might not be able clean themselves but they know they need help to do something so their children don’t suffer. Then I myself have been in such awful conditions that housework seemed impossible. But I did it, what’s more I painted the utility the room as a means to stop thinking. So no I think parents who do that to their children are just plain and strait lazy borderline evil and should have their children taken away from them. There are no circumstances in the world that I can imagine where I would allow children to grow up in that disgusting a mess.

  • @Dayisnear

    @@dianeshelton9592 Yeah, that is mainly due to english being a second language for me so sometimes I tend to get my grammar and spelling a bit mixed up 😅 Ah, see, that made sense in my head. And in that I have to admit I see why you react so strongly as well. I do not defend that löevel per se, but to just blame the parent/s are a bit edged to me as we do not get the entire picture in these videos. We just get to see the mess that had happened due to one reason or several, and then the end result. I am wondering, if they do have had a landlord - why didn't they take action and visit sooner? So, that is why I can not wrap my head around why it is just the parents as we do not know the why and how's and to just assume how - that is why my wording gets rather edged..

    The people living under these conditions need a plan how to keep their home organised and tidy. It is easily done by following a routine of chores. First thing they have to learn, each thing has it’s place. You take it, you put it back where it belongs. Empty space can be cleaned quick and easy. Under the week we do minor chores like vacuuming, dishwasher, laundry, surfaces in the kitchen area, quick dusting where in need, cat loo, and bathroom. At the weekend, usually Saturday mornings, it is time for more serious tasks. I am not perfect and my partner even less, but I could never live in a trash can.

Value your home and value yourself. Rich or poor no home should look like that. Even when I broke my femur , I got down on the floor when needed to clean my home. When I was about 4 years old I started cleaning the house because the adults were passed out. That was in the 60s. I still clean up. I make my bed as soon as I get up. My home is clean each night before I go to bed. Meaning no dirty dishes even in the sink.

    I watch channels like this to get the comfort of seeing things put right again. It makes me feel better seeing chaos turned into order. It also, ironically, gives me comfort seeing that the people of Japan are not all Marie Kondo, and they can be messy too. It makes them human. Mostly I see these houses as representing a life that got away from someone, and by the time they pulled out of it they didn't know where to begin cleaning it up. It was too big for them to tackle on their own, so they called for help with it. There's no shame in that. At a certain point it's the only thing you can do. The cleaners have my deepest respect, because they are doing something not many people would do, and they do it well. We need people like that, who take pride in their work.
