Landing at World’s Most Dangerous Airport ~ Paro, Bhutan on Airbus Aircraft |
Paro airport is considered as one of the most challenging airport in the world for the commercial jetliners to land.
The airport is located at an altitude of 7364 feet above mean sea level with runway elevation of 7362 feet and 7310 feet respectively for runway 15 and runway 33.
The runway length is 7431 feet ( 2265 meters) and width is about 30 meters which just covers the minimum runway width required by ICAO. ( one factor why Paro is considered one of the most challenging runway to land for the pilots)
Note: All Airbus aircraft are developed based on 45 m wide runways because it reflects the most frequently used runways by Airbus aircraft.
All flight and simulator certification tests linked to directional control on ground are performed on 45 m wide runways.
Enjoy the short video of the landing done by the pilots of Bhutan Airlines.

That Captain is a freakin' BOSS! Quite a display of skill.
Love approach of this airport, always exciting to watch !
This Captain makes this most difficult of approaches, and landings look like a piece of cake, truly outstanding work.
I’ve dine this flight. Absolutely spectacular 🎉
Nice at every time. Thank you for the vid.
Circle to land? Screw that! I'm gonna zig-zag to land! Great landing.
What a precise, smooth and elegant approach
Very nice landing 👍👍👍
Nice video utilizing the outside photo "window". Maybe next time do two "windows", with one window being a close up of the PFD/NAV display.
He made that look so easy!
This captain can be my captain any day here in Australia ! ... We'll be in safe hands if he has to fly visually !
Front view was amazing
Outstanding skills...much respect!
so they flew over the airport, did a 180 and performed a picture perfect landing! such skill, man.

Nop, they didn´t. It was a normal approach for landing on the 15. It looks crazy because they follow the river and sometimes it is breathtaking how narrow they pass the mountains. But the airplane needs to approach without steep curves which would be more dangerous and would frighten the passengers.

@@wernerschulte6245 you mean he didn't do 180? but isn't that the runway i see in the beginning of the clip? they passed over that and then turned around to land.

Yes. They fly over the runway at 2500 ft and lower their landing gear. That's their downwind. Their base is the 180 back to the airport. And the "clear to land call" from the tower is as they start the U-TURN 😂

@@amalfrancis9590 My fault, sorry. I missed the very beginning
That is such an easy approach and landing. Tried it on my Flight Simulator...only took me 37 attempts to make a successful landing.
Holy shit. Absolutely no margin for error. I'm surprised the plane could hold the weight of these guys balls
Wow, no ILS approach here (I think!?) and serious focus required. Master pilots, great job.

VFR only, . there's not even room for ILS equipment.

RNAV approaches for RWY 15 and 33, once you reach a certain waypoint, it’s all VFR and manual Flight
magnifique approche je sais pas comment ils font quand la visi est basse
In a different video I watched the captain (and it might have been this Capt - there are only a handful certified to fly into this airport) talk us through it… it was fascinating - “wait until you become parallel with that house with the green roof, then turn xx degrees and line up with the end” (paraphrasing of course)
A great pilot.

Well - this is NOT the world’s most dangerous airport! Try SDN in Norway! 😀👍
excellent skill. Precision approach & landing 👏👏👏 whos the capt name?
You people are easily amused!!!
It goes over the airport and then turns 180 degrees before landing. It seems that the pilot's skills are really great. Anyway, I wonder what the route of that plane is.
