    That’s awesome Where did you get the aluminium extrusion from as I have been trying to work out how to do this by joining various box, Z and L sections together.

    Nice video mate , im in Perth too and looking for that sort of extrusion for my camper trailer build. I used sika 221 when I ran out of t-Rex on some panels for my body . Long story short, I had a change of design come to mind and drilled out the rivets on the rear panel and rear ceiling panels. The sika came off with ease with the multi tool blades I used but were really struggling where I had used the t tex. Really impressive stuff and live up to its claim as the strongest adhesive

    Looks great!! did you use composite for the roof? Does the roof/cieling materal need to be installed when you rivet all the top extrusions together?

    The roof panel went in after the frame was fabricated and the extrusions completed. The panel just dropped in. Then a final sealing strip of butyl tape on the seams. All full bonded first with construction adhesive.

    saw your video and very impressed by the design. I am searching for the straight up hinges supplier. We convert Mitsubishi Delica vans to pop top and would like to change the design of the pop tops to straight up. believe it is called penthouse style. If you can help that would be great.

    I know it's 8 months ago but if you haven't found one already, I build similar stuff for a living and get my extrusions/moulds/angles from Righton Blackburns. If you go to their webside and download the brochure you'd find all the shapes they do - very decent selection

    I'm assembling my Pop-Top kit now. Thanks for the reference! Which Sikaflex product did you use when you joined the corners? Did you basically use it like glue in a miter joint?

  • @MrFastrhino

    @MrFastrhino

    I used sika 221 which is really strong, I put a good bead all around the corner piece and then used ratchet straps to clamp it up and let the glue set, once the glue was set I then riveted the joints.

    Oh don't forget to do your dimensional check before the glue starts curing, make sure it is square.

    Thanks so much for the info. I have another question (sorry). I have someone here in Germany making me a panel, but I didn't get the piece of angle that caps the panel all around the edges. I'm going to have to get something fabricated. Did you use an aluminum angle, or is it PVC? Thanks!

  • @MrFastrhino

    I used Aluminium 40x40x4 angle, glued in place with construction adhesive.

    Did you have any luck finding them? I'm searching eBay for lifting mechanisms but all I can find is slanted bed ones, or even taking two hydralic scissor lift tables, cutting the mechanisms off and welding those on. That's such a long winded approach though.
