Land Rover LR2/Freelander 2 3.2L Belt, Tensioner, and Idler Change, Part 1: Access

2008 Land Rover LR2/Freelander 2 3.2L Belt, Tensioner, and Idler Change. This video removes the air box, battery, and battery tray to get access to the FEAD.
I mentioned at the end that there looked like a second belt was over by the alternator, but it looks like a rubber damper/coupling instead.
Also, I pointed to the vacuum pump and may have called it the water pump. Note that the water pump is on the backside of the pulley with the power steering pump.

Thank you for the videos! That’s a strange setup for the alternator drive. Looking forward to pt2 & 3 of this series.

Yeah, it runs through a coupler and is under the intake manifold.

For anybody doing this, while you’re in there change the accessory drive pulley. Yes it’s a pain, but trust me-worth it. Landrover lr2, developed a severe, I mean severe, “rattle” and vibration in the belt. Thought AC comp. Sounded right underneath it. Took to landrover, they said water pump and replaced-nope! Finally they had no idea and said engine blown-nope. I replaced AC comp-nope. Eventually belt blew up. Nobody could figure it out. Fixed myself, the accessory drive pulley bearing had literally exploded, wore through the timing chain outer cover. A nightmare to replace and fix everything, 12 hours of pain in the arse labor, but timing cover, pulley and belt all replaced. Hums like a charm. Replace the pulley while you’re in there!!!! It’s worth it!
