Did you know that the reason The pelican gives faith? because it’s an Old metaphor for Jesus as in real life pelicans will cut themselves in order to feed their children with their own blood. It was a semi-popular symbol in eastern churches and when Muslim nations conquered the area they didn’t understand the meaning of the pelican so they just left it there.

As an archaeologist I cant help but stubbornly laugh as you come out of the labyrinth with a priceless find like noneother and say "eh its not really that good, 30? I dunno..." I'm amused and saddened

"The Movement" is Isabel Sarmentos guys in the background story of Anno 1800, who are fighting for their independence from A Coroa - that's La Corona to the plebs.

Ugh I love the aesthetics. Even though objectively I know life in the 1800s was hard and dirty life is much nicer now I can't help but want to be a part of the hustle and bustle of Swords :( love the way it looks Darren keep it up pls!

I love the easter egg walkthroughs. Really gives you insight into how the ANNO devs poored their creativity into buildings.

An easier way to spot the island for the diving maps is to look at the trade menu. The orientation of the islands is the same as the map, and you can find the correct island in 5 seconds.

Love the series man 👍 kinda wish you were doing a giant city on the cape as your building style is really cool with all the winding streets, but you do you man 👍

the fact that they put the ‘holy city’ into the game makes me rlly happy the ‘holy city’ is mecca the place where the kaaba 🕋 lies and where muslim r commanded to try to preform pilgrimage at least once in their life rlly cool detail in the game

Loving the let's play so far man! You should double check the public mooring though, you don't get the same amount of money as the attractiveness you have, it's actually a multiplyer a little over 3x if I'm not mistaken, so it'd probably already make you money right now

Every time I’ve built it, it makes exactly the attraction value in income (you can get more if you have harbourmaster buffs or newspaper though) I’ll check again though

i have a whole fleet with my diver, few large cargo ships as well, sometimes carrying some basic materials needed for future crafting

Been binge watching your playthrough and really want to get the game for myself! I looove how you have SO many videos on Anno!! A lot of other people I've been looking at stop but I really appreciate your longer series and more chill style. Overall I'm glad I found your channel! ✿✿

Love it when a couple of the episodes pile up, what a treat to catch up.

I had a thought about Cape Trelawney. Since there's plenty of room out that way (on the mainland), and her royal airheadedness was talking about making a new capital out that way why don't you make it about half tourist trap (palace, museum, zoo, world's fair, etc.) and half breadbasket (at least nothing that damages attractiveness like pig farms)? Also, might be worth fortifying *all* your islands just in case Gasparov or Lady Margaret decide that your citizens would look better in purple or teal. I'm thinking 3 medium and one light cannon to a battery on either side of each beach with as many batteries in the middle as necessary to provide overlapping fields of fire so that anything trying to shoot up *anything* in or near any of the shipping lanes around your harbors gets shot at from *at least* two directions. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing at least the rewards of the mountain walk.

I know I'm a year late to this party but I've been enjoying every moment. And as I was watching this episode, I was thinking, "What if the Land of lions or Enbesa is the civilization of Abyssinia, now known as Ethiopia?" as the word 'Anbesa' or, 'Enbesa' as it is written here, literally means 'Lion' in the Ethiopian language, Amharic, and the names 'Biniam' 'Sahle Ketema' are Ethiopian names.

i always play anno 1800 with the easy npcs because i want to discover and recover from work and i personaly need no competition :) PS: take a walk on Cape Trewlany (1. person) and start at the castle on the hill because they is a secret path but you will see if you go there! :)

Really loving the series. I have started over with my own world and wanting to make it look nicer instead of functional. Ornaments are not easy lol. Keep it up bro, love it

a good idea imo is also just skipping weapons, heavy weapons and all the stuff you don't need for consumer goods (like steel beams fe as well) and buy it from the AI traders when you need it. Steel beams you get from Archie, cannons and heavy weapons from either Anne or Jean and steam motors from Nate and you only buy them when you need them and you sell them stuff you overproduce or they want (fe alcohol for the pirates, coal for Archie, gold for Nate) while not having to pay the hefty maintenance costs. you also can get some harbourmaster office specialists that get you those randomly when you trade in trading posts or piers while also increasing the loading speed.

Just catching up ont this series! It's awesome so far. For the Santa Claus you were looking at, it resembles more of Sinterklaas. A Dutch holiday on which Santa Claus is inspired. It reminds me cause Sinterklaas is 5 december which is three weeks from me writing this comment.

I know I'm waaaay behind from when you made this, but its such an awesome series. I played Anno a while (years) ago but never really got much further than completing the storyline and then New World. I'm loving the series and have learnt so much. Love the way you build your islands, learnt to chill out and how things work so much better thanks to your series and how you explain things - to the point (I'm still behind you in progress) but I have well over a million in the bank and income of 18k at the moment and everything is actually going really well. Just about to head off and find Sunken treasures and give that a go as well - thank you so much!

Hey man. I wannted to say that i love your Anno 1800 series. Just by watching you play and build up your island reignited my intrest in the game :) I also decided to get all the expansion vor the game now. Thanks to you my last week was filled with long nights of building up new islands and inoproving nnon old saves. This brings me to my point. You have a market and a tavern in your town on the main island, which has a walled of brick produktion sitting right next to it(Paus the video at 2:55 to see it perfectly). Especialy the tavern has only the view on the wall and the chimney smoke behind it. As a beer and wine drinker i also like to go to a tavern and enjoy a cold one in the garden. So wouldn´t it be nicer if the market the tavern and the road in beteen were relocated one square to the southeast, this would open up one small pass between the tavern and the wall. There could be placed ah row of trees and your workers could enjoy a cold one in the shade :D Prost

I just started playing this game and found this series. I'm quite behind but ill catch up eventually. This game can be pretty overwhelming when you first start. I'm playing a multiplayer game eith my friend and were about 30 summin hours in and I only just unlocked engineers 😂 seeing you do it after a few hours was humblimg hahahahaha. Also really enjoying your series :) I hope you got the copy right issues sorted. Maybe I'll find out in a later episode

Theres so much to do in this game though, the to do list never ends haha my buddy and I stay up all hours of the night playing. Its so fun though. Really enjoying the game. Glad you got the copy right stuff sorted, I joined the channel to show some support as I'm really enjoying your series and all the work you've put in really shows.

It may be an easter egg, but man, I love that first person mode. Such a shame 2205 didnt have it. I would have loved to walk between my skyscrapers like that. Hopefully they keep it as a feature going forward.

Honestly I'd go at least a few steps further and have both an open world game AND a city builder game made on the same engine, with the buildings and population/jobs etc from one affect the other. That way you could make a city in the city builder and then explore it in the open world rpg/action game as well. Almost like a map editor.

I have a long way to catch up on this series, but I thought you might enjoy knowing this bit of info: when you were in the Arabesque and you gave them a thumbs-up signal, and you were wondering why it insulted them? It's because in the Arab nations, the thumbs-up gesture means something roughly akin to "Shove it up your ass, buddy!" LOL. The more appropriate gesture would have been to place your hand over your heart and bow, it's a gesture meant to convey humbleness and a willingness to submit to the authority of the household, which is considered polite since you're in their home. The thumbs-up is considered polite by Western nations, and nowadays most Eastern nations understand that you mean it to be a positive thing, not a negative thing... but of course, this would be in the 1800's, and such things were completely unknown back then. Hell, back then, flashing a thumbs-up at an Arab man in his own home often resulted in you getting your head lopped off. :)

Yeah unfortunately I don't know how fast AI settle places - But I think you should do them as early as possible just to see what's there and claim anything you can.

Well even for me the FPS is kind of low, at around 30. My PC Specs are GTX 980ti, i7 5930k, 32GB RAM. I'm not sure what you would need, I can only say what I have and how it runs for me.

Yep, Margaret is the Sister of Benjamin Harlow, and he was hanged for Treason, which is part of the reason why Anne Harlow turned to Piracy. Apparently he was killed for speaking out against the Crown, and the punishment was harsh, which is why Margaret hates those who use propaganda/supress speech. Several quests link the two together, and sometimes you'll see items like "Photo of Benjamin Harlow" that passes between them and stuff like that!

Is it just me or are parts of the expeditions skipping? If so why is that?
