Land, Lives & Liberty

Following the recent murders of Glen and Vida Rafferty on their Normandien farm, on the 5th of September, the Newcastle community protested farm murders and the general state of corruption in the country. Our IRR team interviewed a range of participants at the demonstration. Over 3000 people attended it, forming a 20 km vehicle procession.
At the heart of this protest, we found a community cemented by common values and the desire to live in peace and “to keep on feeding the nation”.
Complementing this short documentary, the IRR is launching a policy document, Land, Lives & Liberty: A five-point plan to save rural SA, which presents a practical set of solutions to make sure that South Africans living in rural areas can thrive and fulfill their ambitions to #LiveFree in a peaceful and prosperous country.

Very moving and just brings home to us the reality of this scourge sweeping our land. We need to protect our farmers and our food security. We need to protect all our people in this land. Great to see people joining hands to do just that. Thank you!

It is clear that the government is incapable of running the country and thus it is vital that the ordinary people of this country take our future into our owns hands. We are already doing a lot, filling the gaps where the government has failed. Eventually the government will become irrelevant.

Set up a national commando security unit. And integrate the farming and local community into it. I.e. put policing in the hands of citizens, and out of the hands of the government.

This is absolutely devastating & shows you once again that it is only the politicians of the @MYANC & @EFF who sow race hatred & division in this country. People on the ground generally live peacefully together and all they want is the right to life, liberty & property! It breaks my heart.

Ramaphosa doesn't care who dies, the dead at Marikana are still waiting for justice.

"Time for the government to do something" ... that will never happen. We have to do something.

Strange how the country can get together but the government cannot!

In the beginning of Zimbabwe when Mugabe took over. The Modus Operandi then also was murdering the farmers. These are sickos. Crime paid for by overseas lefties. Gates, Soros etc. designed by the Germans used against the unwanted races.

It is past time reconvene and remuster the Kommando Protection Units in these areas. Never forget that disbanding that was one of the Communist government's first actions after they obtained power in 1994! There is a powerful lesson there.
