It's actually a little more than minimum wage at the time: 10K for 3 years = $5.208/hr (based on average 40 hour work per week). That's actually a little more than Federal minimum wage (circa 1999). Minimum wage in Florida at the time was: $5.15 (same as Federal minimum wage). But that doesn't include overtime and qualifying days (double pay). And you can bet they worked a lot more than the standard 40 hour average work week, and on holidays too... So if they logged overage hours they worked which would qualify for double pay then you are right about them being paid less than minimum wage at the time. But since we don't have access to their workload logs- they probably didn't keep count completely anyways- to account for their 3 years of contract work. So no one can determine the actual amount they made per hour under minimum wage based on the standard 40 hour work week and minimum wage statute... But we don't need numbers to know they got royally screwed. So the principle of your point holds true!

@egogo816 And Dr. Luke. . .Whether or not you believe what Kesha says about him, I feel he has more secrets than that. I do believe that he deliberately pushed her to developing an eating disorder. I believe he is at the very least very verbally and emotionally abusive towards his artists and take most of the money from them. Katy Perry severed her working relationship with Dr. Luke quietly some time ago and she's never come forward about her experiences with him, despite that he was the one who created her as a pop artist and put her on the map. No one is willing to talk about Dr. Luke either. Pink and Kelly Clarkson were about the only ones who even SOMEWHAT came forward about Dr. Luke. All Pink said was that she worked with him for one song and that was enough for her. "He's not a good person."-that's what she said. And it's easy to see why they're so scared of coming forward-Kesha's career and reputation was largely destroyed when she legally fought against Dr. Luke. He still "knows people" and he's still in positions of considerable power to where he can destroy an entire artist's career on a whim if he feels like it.

In the documentary, Lou told the boys and a lot of people over his life over how he started his own upstar super big newspaper delivery company. . .That turned out to be a complete lie. Personal details about Lou Pearlman outside of his lifetime Ponzi schemes is surprisingly little. No one really knew him, and BSB and NSync in the documentary come to the realization that they never truly knew who Lou Pearlman was, despite being such a prominent figure in their lives. A lot of that was because Lou lied so casually and kept changing his "origin story" that no one ever really found out that much about him and how much was actually true. Not even the people who came forward to say they knew him when he lived in the same building as they did could say that they really knew him that well.

A lot of the songs he produced that have been apart of the billboard hot 100 # 1 singles, (Plus the artist he has worked with doesn’t stop there, He also produced & co wrote Songs & Hits Sung By : Backstreet Boys, Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Adele, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Ellie Goulding, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Cyndi Lauper, The Veronicas, Coldplay, Christina Aguilera, Jessie J, Avril Lavigne, Usher, Ed Sheehan, Kesha, Becky G, Tiao Cruz, Celine Dion, Sam Smith, Leona Lewis, Nick Carter, Bon Jovi, Lana Del Rey, Florida, Westlife). Max Martin is the song writer with the third most # 1 singles on the charts. In addition he has the 2nd most hot 100 # 1 singles, as a producer. without him a lot of these artists song wouldn’t be the hits they are, (if anything it’s more likely not being able to put a producers face to the artists music, instead of not actually knowing who they are). the billboard hot 100 # 1 singles. Thank God record companies are no longer necessary. Today you can become a massive star on KZread and make 10 million dollars or more a year without being controlled by anyone like PewDiePie or Mr. Beast. Record companies used to have bands sign for 5 records and stealing almost every cent from the performers. The group TLC in the 90s did a world tour of over a hundred shows selling out stadiums and only got 50,000 dollars each after the tour. That is equal to getting only 500 dollars per show for each of the three ladies in TLC. That is what these record companies do to artists. No wonder the record industry no longer controls the music industry and artists now won't let managers, lawyers or agents control their money anymore. Artists now sign all of their checks and don't give power of attorney to anyone else. Sadly, now Britney Spears parents are controlling her money to this day in 2021 and don't want her to even touch the majority of it. So parents have also been known for stealing artists money.

Kristian179 Lou pearlman pitting them against one another lasted until NSYNC disbanded, also since NSYNC Disbanded individual members have done things with Members of BSB over the past couple of years (Charity events, performance ect..), it’s Justin Timberlake that hasn’t (Nor NSYNC as a 5). JC Chasez even produced & co wrote a bsb song with AJ called treat me right of their album unbreakable (which was one of their worst promoted albums for BSB). Plus JC Chasez threatened to sue Jive records (in regards to things related to his solo career) & BSB around the same time was having trouble with Jive records which contract they managed to get out of in 2013, BSB Literally Had 2 Messy Contract Situations Back to Back, (I wouldn’t be Surprised if JC’s & BSB Situations with Jive Records also had anything to do with it), because I can understand not wanting to potentially getting anyone else involved in that mess.

@@Kristian179 if you pay attention Justin Timberlake barley does anything in regards to NSYNC now a days (that is very clearly known), let alone as collab. So a full collective isn’t happening mainly because of him these pass couple of years. They did talk about possibly reaching out to rest to get involved with BackSync in the interview they did, (But anything like an album involves getting the rights ect), plus we are in pandemic right now, so doing those preformances requires ‘getting a ok’ from public health (which they have been starting to give the ok’s, then advising against it last minute, backstreet already had to reschedule Christmas Vegas Residency to next year). Plus something has been going on with JC Chasez. he said he isn’t doing another album, he wouldn’t sing (when it came to finishing the lyrics game he did on Chris Kirkpatrick insta live during the first half of lockdown, & he wouldn’t sing on Lance Bass podcast when he tried to get him to, just a few weeks before that) & normally he likes singing, (he will sing with Gary Barlow on Instagram, only because he was able to hide his voice behind his, & you can tell that is exactly what he was doing). Plus on Chris Kirkpatrick Instagram live that they did he was just so disconnected @ points, that even Chris Kirkpatrick knew something was up with JC, (and he so determined about it that I don’t think he is going to cave in anytime soon). It literally has nothing to do with the guys of BSB or Chris Kirkpatrick (where he had done similar things unrelated to BackSync with AJ). It’s mainly Justin & whatever is going on with JC (where he won’t even sing a few lines for his own bandmates & was that disconnected when talking to Chris Kirkpatrick).
