I live in Australia and it is so interesting to see different parts of America. This area is gorgeous.
I grew up in that area. It was nice to hear someone pronounce Lancaster correctly
I has been to several of those places. they are all a lot of fun. your whole area is just lovely. And was always a treat when we came your way.
As a resident of Lancaster County, I fully endorse this video.

Wow, so sorry for you. You think you are happy living in Lancaster. You must have some effective delusional potion to stay in your private little Lalaland. I'm guessing you have never lived anywhere else and don't know the difference.

I'm so sorry for you if you live in Lancaster (hell).
My mom, sisters and I love doing day trips to Lancaster and stopping at thrift stores and material shops. So fun seeing the places + ideas you shared! We'll have to check them out on our next trip!
I love living in this area and loved hearing your thoughts on some of my favorite places! Definitely gonna check out more of your videos!!
Thank you for these recommendations! I want to go and take my grandchildren to each and every one of these! 🥰
This is perfect! I just asked for this video. I feel so special. We always look for cheap and free ways to enjoy new places. And LOVE trains! The area is incredibly beautiful. and Alpacas! They are adorable creatures. This made me so happy. I haven't been since I was a little girl and don't remember much. I'm in South Jersey. Thanks Megan.
I enjoy your channel so much. I have no idea if I will ever make it to Lancaster County but I enjoyed hearing you talk about it. Thank you for sharing!
For me who only lives an hour away from Lancaster. You showed me a lot of new places to try! Thanks!!
Oh, wow! What a great list of recommendations! I will definitely refer back to this video if I ever visit the area. I loved seeing all the modestly dressed ladies that live in your area. Seeing that in my area is very rare. 😉
Thank you for bringing me home to Lancaster been to alot of them, Bowmansville lived there when my children were babies, loved shopping at the old stores off of 30 near the Strausburg railroad, slept in the railcars at Red Caboose. Miss all the Amish foods, shoofly pies, whoopipies, the foods my grandma made, potato salad and the relishes. Boy, really made my day. Thank you again for the pictures of home.
I love Lancaster!!! I live about 1 1/2 hrs away and visit a lot. So glad I found your channel.
Hello from Canada! I was in Lancaster 2 months ago . Wish I had seen this video earlier. We did go to the bird in hand bakery and it was amazing! Great coffee and baked goods. Thanks for sharing😊👍
I love coming to Lancaster county! A few years ago we went to Sight and Sound, Strasburg Railroad, and a model train place nearby. We really enjoyed that. I also love all the quaint shops and discount stores too!!
I loved this video! Thank you for sharing ideas on places to go that aren’t necessarily tourist attractions! So great! I would love to visit one day. In the meantime, I will just experience it through your videos. 😊❤️🙏
That's some beautiful country !! Thank you for sharing ! ❤
I used to live in Lancaster. Man o man I miss it. When you showed Bird and hand made my mouth water.
Megan, thanks for posting this! I'll be in the Lancaster area in August and you've just given me a few new ideas of what to check out. Thank you! :)
Hi again Megan, I live within 5 to 10 minutes to almost all the places you show. I visit Hayloft and the little veg. stand weekly. When I was younger I worked at Red Caboose and the past owner and I are still very close friends, having lunch together a lot. I love the trains also. I can hear them from my house. Thanks for sharing all this so others who come here can visit.......and the camels are very special to see, something you don't expect here.
Hi Megan, great video! I am happy to say that we have been to all but the last place. About 20 years ago or so we discovered Lancaster County and fell in love. I am a quilter, seamstress and a crafter. I am self taught so I would look closely at the quilts for sale to learn how to make them and how to sew the bindings on. Red Caboose hotel is still a favorite place. We always go there near the end of our day. We stayed in one of the cabooses years ago. It was really cool. Different owners then. They had hoedowns(sp) in the barn on weekends which were loads of fun. Had hay bales for seats. We also styed at the Steamboat Inn one year for our anniversary. Another great experience and wonderful memories. Stayed at Kitchen Kettle Village for another anniversary. They treated us like royalty. Had a special fruit basket, flowers and balloons waiting in our suite. We used to come up there about every other month but my husband works a lot of weekends now so not quite as often. My favorite peaceful place is in the back of Kitchen Kettle Village. Although these past few years it has become more commercialized. (Is that a word?) They have expanded so much. The village and I are the same age, 65. Your video has opened a world of wonderful memories hence this long comment! Anyway, we love it up there and our next trip will be in a couple of weekends. BTW, we live in MD. :)
When I was a child my family and used to stay at a campground in Lancaster County. I remember that the campground overlooked an Amish schoolhouse. We visited an Amish farm and purchased delicious homemade bread and root beer, had fun at Dutch Wonderland, and bought cookies at Kitchen Kettle. It is so nice to find out about other places to visit and activities in the county. Great narration and filming! Thank you for posting the video! 🌳
Thank you Megan for these places I have never been to and live close to! I will be visiting soon with my four grandkids 😊
I live in Allegany County MD and Visit or pass through Lancaster often. It's beautiful with authentic people who make it a wonderful experience every time! I also am familiar with Allegheny boys camp. It's wonderful hearing the ice cream shop donates profit and runs off volunteers! I'm so glad I found your channel!
Megan thanks for sharing Lancaster. I love going there. We go there once or twice a month and we started going on 2012 to Sight and Sound, stayed at Bird in hand inn and love the pretzel and lemonade. Enjoy your videos and today make me think of going next weekend to Lancaster. Thanks
a video on you tube that awesome. as a Lancaster County resident thank you for this
What a super video..great info! I’m from Boston Ma but have been a frequent visitor of Lancaster County and love the area ...my trips have been for yearly carriage auctions and visits to the harness shops for horse supplies ...lots of great family style restaurants!
Never been but what beautiful scenery. Thank you Megan
Fun video! I've never been there but I think my husband and I would love it. It looks like a place where you would feel right at home. Someday when we retire from farming, we will definitely take a drive out there so we can enjoy it first hand.
My family and I love to go to Shady Maple.. haven't been to many places around that area but definitely will especially thrift stores.
Oh Megan Fox thank you sooooooo much this was wonderful! There are so many hidden gems there I am so homesick thank you again.

Hello there 👋🏼 just wanted to say I really enjoy your channel! It’s an extremely positive and happy environment! Everything is so interesting and I especially enjoy your ditl and cooking videos :)
We love Lancaster County. We try to camp there once a year, if we weren't busy we would get there more. We like browsing and shopping at the Goods Store. Will put Bird in Hand on our to do list! Thanks for sharing!
I love Lancaster! Looking at coming this next week! Thank you for the video on places to check out with children.
Very interesting. Thanks. I can't wait to visit some of these places. I know my daughter's Christian School went to The Red Caboose and Stasburg Railroad for their 8th grade graduation trip. She loved it. She grew up in Georgia until she was 13 yrs old.
Megan, I'm a new subscriber, loving your videos. Years ago my late husband and I spent a week in Intercourse Pennsylvania, we loved every second of our visit. We stayed at a B&B that was located next door to an Amish Farm who's brother owned the Farm right across the street ... every morning one of the Farmers came over for coffee while we were having breakfast and he would answer our questions about their lifestyle ... it was informative and truly relaxing. I would love to visit again, but I'm on the West Coast now so it would be a bigger more expensive trip. Thank you for sharing these places with us ... it brought back some wonderful memories and one of my favorite things that we did while there was stopping at a few of the Amish/Mennonite Roadside stands and getting homemade root beer and Shoefly Pie ... delicious.
*Awesome list!* We going to be heading to Country Acres Campground this weekend so, now we have a list to start off with. Thank you. Cheers Shu
My sister and I spent a week there a few years ago. Most relaxing place I have ever been! We rented a little cottage in the country. Some of the things we saw - Sight & Sound, Strasburg Railroad, and the tabernacle at the Mennonite Visitors Center. We drove the country roads and watched Amish farmers planting crops, saw Amish school children playing in a school yard and even came across a little home shop in a front yard. We attended an Amish Mennonite service on Sunday morning where the singing was beautiful! Our Amish buggy driver was so much fun. I'd go back in an instant!
This was a great video! I live in York and we love to visit Lancaster!! This gave us some great ideas of places we have not been so thank you for sharing!!!
So cute! I live in Northern Virginia and have spent many, many summers and different trips in PA but have never heard anyone really suggest any of these little places. We may just have to take a day trip up there this summer! Great ideas, Megan!
My favorite area was Intercourse and the whoopie pies, also the country store there, my sister and I used to get our quilting fabric there,.Another great video thank you
I am from Columbus, Ohio. Last week, October 14th - 18th, 2020, we visited Lancaster, Pa on our vacation and your video guided me as to what we did during our time in Bird-in-Hand. Also, your restaurant suggestions were very good also. I really appreciated your guidance. Thank you so much!!!!!
i’ve been going to Hayloft ever since i was young. i loved looking at the animals when they were there!
I enjoyed this video so much. My mothers father was Mennonite and this is so interesting. My Mom has always said supper, instead of dinner etc. Thank you for sharing your lives. Great Grandma always wore a hair bun and homemade dresses. i saw her hair down once.
Would love to visit one day, thank you so much for sharing. God bless you and your family!
I’ve been following your channel just for one week now, and I’m totally blown away from the different lifestyles and believes that are around the world other than the usual ones. I’m from Germany and I never heard from Mennonites before. I would love to learn more about where you live and your lifestyle. 😊
Subscribed💕I love this video❤️I’m from Boston and this is really helpful since I’m here finding what to do with my kids. Thanks 💕
I'm local and didn't know about these places! Thanks for sharing can't wait to check out waters edge!
Good job from a fellow Lancaster County Gal! I grew up in Leola... didn’t realize people outside of Leola knew about Hayloft Candles!!! Such a great place to bring kiddos or even as a date night spot. 👍

Those are great places! Would definitly love to see the trains and the grocery store. Thanks for sharing!
As I live in Harrisburg, I have been to Lancaster many times and enjoy every minute of it!
Thank you for sharing! My family and I will have to plan a trip to Pennsylvania one day. It looks like there are a lot of neat places there. I had only heard of places like Hershey park. Glad to know there are way more places to visit.
I plan to visit early fall. Thanks for the recommendations.
I've been there so many times!! The Amish store is my favorite AND the bakery! Can't wait to go back.
Love Lancaster! My favorite farm stand is the one directly across from hayloft. They have the best peanut butter cookies!
We are checking into The Red Caboose Motel right now, surprising my train-loving little kids, all thanks to you and your awesome video! Also, I thought Bird In Hand was a fictional town in a book I read until I saw your video!!! Definitely going there this weekend! Thank you so much for inspiring a long overdue family vacation!!!
Yay!! So excited. I've been to all the places you suggested or atleast been by them except Hayloft creamery but will try next time. We always stop at the hardware and I have pics of the camels. Thank you for sharing. I was one of the ones asking for suggestions so thanks. Also, Dieners is a great buffet place to have breakfast or dinner. Good prices and good food. And be sure to check out the road side stands on the country roads. They have delicious baked good and fresh flowers and canned jams and pickles. There is a really good one we always go to, if you go down harvest drive right in front of Kauffmans and follow the roads you will find the little stand. The sweetest kids are usually there running it with their dad. Unfortunately their mother passed away last couple years from cancer. You must stop by and by some sweet rolls. So delicious. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the suggestions of ice cream places to try!
Great video! Wish I would have known about Lancaster county when I was in the Philly area traveling over a decade ago! I want to visit Lancaster county!
I have visited several of those places. thank you for sharing.
Lancaster is very pretty area and the places you talked about look fun to visit .
I love Lancaster county!!! When our children were young.,we were there quite often. Our favorite place to stay was the Red Caboose Hotel. We stayed there often!!! We also loved packing a picnic and riding the train ,getting off at the picnic Grove and eating and letting the kids play on the playground . It made a great day trip when we couldn't really stay overnight. I was surprised at how empty the cars were when the train went by in the video. Thank you for giving me some new ideas of places to go in your area. I love your channel!

Ok, good. You named places in the Southern end. That's the place to live if you are stuck in Lancaster county. Down near Conestoga. I didn't like the Lancaster area and I strongly do not recommend it. But at least you know where to stomp around.

@@cantfindmykeys Conestoga has the Conestoga Wagon, and in the summer the Conestoga Pool has snacks. Many farms also have stands. Closest bar is the Frogtown in Marticville.

@@FrancisKoczur I know the frogtown cafe. I've played pool at Marticville tavern. Pequea tavern. I know all the spots along the river and down in that area. I used to hike Tucquan trails and the pinnacle is very pretty. I just despise the town of Lancaster. My friends have a beautiful property along the Conestoga river where we go kayaking. On the Susquehanna, too. I still have some Pine Dairy gift cards. I used them for the Achenbach's long johns. Vanilla is my favorite.
Crystal clear video and enjoyed listening
Thank you for the info. I’m going there next Friday with my parents who are fascinated with the Amish culture
Wow, what a great place!!!! Definitly on my to go list
We love going to Lapp Valley Farm. I have gone there since I was little and love taking my kids there now :)
I just found your channel today after watching your “how to make a dress” video. I looked around and found this video and loved it! We lived for a year in Lancaster 30 years ago and it was such a beautiful area. Many great memories! We lived in Lancaster city in a huge row home. :) One of our favorite places to go was the little city of Lititz and go to the library there. It may not even be there anymore, who knows, it was a long time ago. Looking forward to watching more of your videos and this one made me want to come back for a visit. :)
I have just recently started watching your channel. I live in Norfolk, Va. You have some really good interesting tips. We stayed in Lancaster last August at the Heritage Hotel and ate at the Loxley's Restaurant. It was a really cool place to eat. We didn't do so much site seeing because there was some storms coming to the area and we needed to head out of town. We want to go back and explore. It is a beautiful area.
Thank you for the tips on where to visit my family will be visiting that area in November.
Megan. Ty so much for the video. I became a new friend of your channel today and appreciate your videos
My in laws live in Ephrata so we’re in Lancaster a lot. This is a helpful video. Would love to see more.
I love Lancaster!! I spent many childhood summer vacations there 😃
I loved Bird in Hand bakery and café when we were there. My husbands family’s is from Pittsburgh but the reside in Wernersville. Pennsylvania is definitely my happy place. I’m from Arkansas but love PA.
I love the amish and all of lancaster! Awesome video!
Facinating! I would love to visit your area! I like such style very much))
I love the Bird in Hand farm supply. I try to get down once a year. Haven't been to the hayloft in a while, I think they used to have a petting zoo years ago. My new favorite place is Roots Market.
My husband grew up in that area and we come visit family there all the way from Georgia. One of our favorite things to do is Aaron and Jessica's buggy ride tours. They take you on an Amish buggy tour through the farms where cars can't go. We will definitely have to check some of these places out when we were up there in the fall!

Oh you'll have fun!
When we still lived in NJ the Red Caboose Motel was a go to with our young kids. Last summer, after living in Florida for 23 years we once again stayed at the Red Caboose, this time with our granddaughter. It’s not a first class hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but the experience is priceless. When eating in the dining car, ask them to turn on the hydraulics and you will feel as though the dining car is moving. We will definitely be back before we die LOL. Lancaster is a beautiful area.
I live in Lancaster City. Thanks for the recommendations!
I live in Lancaster. I have never seen the Strasburg Railroad, but I have passed by Dutch Wonderland when going somewhere, and I did visit Hersheypark back two years ago. I also went to Quarryville last year and saw the Atglen & Susquehanna Branch trail bridge. Definitely cool place to go. I loved your video so much.
Hi Megan, your video came up in my feed today since I’m planning a couple days in Lancaster over the summer. I’ve been twice before and have done traditional Amish things, so this time will be staying at an awesome Airbnb in town and looking for new ideas. Thx for some great suggestions, I even subscribed to see what else you’ve got in store. 😇😎
I’m a lifelong Lancaster native and I don’t think I have been to any of these places! I just got back from Shady Maple this minute though, lol. I live in the city and have seen lots of that, but it appears I need to get outside it more often. Thanks for the advice! I have a two year old who will enjoy these places.
I am new to your channel and love it. My parents used to stay at Country Haven Campground in New Holland every summer!!
I love Lancaster PA. We used to live in Snyder County near Selinsgrove PA. We moved recently to Mountoursville area because my husband is a Pastor. Love your channel and I miss the Amish and Mennonites.
Thankyou Megan.I would love to visit Lancaster.
We have a Bald Eagle Boys Camp here in Clinton County, PA About 12 miles from the driveway of the camp is a Soft Ice Cream/homemade pretzels/ soups and sandwiches, etc. store... Owned by Mennonite volunteers to support the school. It’s called The Ice Shack. It’s a great program for troubled boys. The food is the best! I’ve been to Lancaster many times and will be staying at the Red Caboose Motel in May. Thanks for the ideas.
Spent a lot of time growing up at my grandmothers house at the Buck and on her farm at Pleasant Grove. Gear heads would enjoy the Buck Tractor Pulls - the only full time pulling track in the country.
You just have the best videos megan!!!!!
I am definitely going to Bird and Hand farm supply. I’ve gone by it several times when visiting. I didn’t know groceries were sold there. We will be staying at country Acres campground in Gordonville in August. I cant wait! I love traveling on the back roads stopping at the roadside stands for fruit and vegetables!
We live in Berks county. Great tips when we make our way to Lancaster. Thank you.
Born and raised in Lancaster. Hey girl, hey! We since relocated to Delaware, but we travel back and forth to visit family

Be glad you escaped. Unfortunately, my parents still live in Lancaster so I have to return from time to time. I went to U of DE. Anything is better than Lancaster. I have since lived 20 years in the Keys and I'm headed to S. and central America next.
Megan I used to live in Chambersburg and never went to Lancaster. Boy do I have regrets bad!! I love the fabrics and antiques. You are cute as a button.
The Lil country store & miniature horse farm on Paradise Lane is fun for children!
My mom and I go twice a year. We love it. We have been to 2 of the places. Love the area and are headed down at the end of August 😍I love Shady Maple Smorgasbord!
