Watch her eyes through this performance. Before you criticize her voice, observe her eyes. Watch how they rove around, looking for a safe place to focus- she shows the characteristics of someone who is TERRIFIED. She constantly closes her eyes, and keeps her gaze down. She has little self esteem as it is, and it effects her performance always. Leave her alone, she is amazingly talented, just unappreciated. If you don't like her that's fine but stop being so harsh.

DandyLion this literally broke my heart for a minute 😭

The problem is that We are used to listen to singers like christina aguilera or beyonce and thats about it , being a powerhouse is not the only way to be a singer, lana doesn't have a super strong voice nor uses whistle register, belting or any of those fancy techniques, but she sings from her heart , very calm , very beautiful and i respect her for being different. Thiis is like every other aspect of life, each singer has their own style and would be boring as fuck if they all sing the same , if u dont like this dont come here and neither say shes bad just because its not your style , thanks

No Lana loves loud crowds, go watch some brazilian lives, she feel loved and surprised and she starts to give it back. But the truth is most of us listen to her to feel the pain to live, so we close our eyes and cry inside, this is I think, the way to listen to her so when she feels the pain in the crowd she can't really breathe.

At the end of the video 3:35, she looked really sad. To us, it was just a performance, a very beautiful one. But to Lana, she was recounting her life story in 3 and a half minutes. She was damaged and depressed, yet she gave us her all. This is one of the most authentic performances I've ever seen

I’d say one of her better live performances. Lana’s got quite a gap between her studio and live performance imo. I’m not trying to bash her or something, just sharing opinion. An example of chick singer who was virtually indistinguishable studio / stage is of course 70s Emmylou Harris.

Her voice is so different... I love the way she sounds when she sings "I just", and then she goes and changes her voice completely and it ends up sounding way deeper when she sings the "ride" part. It's really unique.

People don't get that music has been so saturated with auto tune that when something genuine comes along its immediately criticized. This is what Genuine music looks like. Humans will never get a note perfect but near perfection is just enough. And the natural music will feel more genuine and add character.

The fact that she can literally sing however she wants and yet her speaking voice has nothing to do with how she sings amazes me, she deserved all the appreciaion she could get

She's more appreciated in other countries than in the US I think. The singer at the show with her (Sharon De adel) is a fan and covered one of her songs, Summer time sadness, her smile at the end while watching Lana is so precious. I love both of them.

That voice, those moves and that look on her face... She feels the song she wrote, put herself in it and that my friends, is art.

i can't believe people are critiquing her voice, she sounds amazing. her facial expressions make this an emotional experience, and the music sounds incredible.

Imperfect and perfect. Cued this up for the beginning of a long drive… Basically played it over and over for the whole drive.. Hardest part was to keep from picking up the phone and watching her sing it..that’s half the vibe

I rewatch this at least once a week to cry, easily one of her top five live performances

I know why I am so inlove and feel so related to lana. Because she's damaged, you can see it in her eyes, she's nervous, she's a real person. Her self esteem is low, she has battled depression, but look how talented this beautiful woman is. I will never respect anyone else so much in my life.

What the fuck? She's already one of the best vocalists in the industry. She doesn't need 10 years. An artist has true soul in their music not perfect melodies or notes...look at the way she sings this song...that's all that matters. I fucking you love Lana, thank you for getting me through all my dark and tumultuous items

She does like singers used to do. No fancy shit. Just sing. Simply stand up and sing from your heart. And it sounds amazing.

I remember being obsessed with this video and lana in general when I was younger. Like I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever but I couldn't understand how something so beautiful could seem so sad.. she's so good

Look at her, pure talent and emotion. While Sharon Den Adel, powerful metal vocalist and Lana fan looks on in amazement. The atmosphere must have been magical.

My favorite part about this performance besides Lizzy, is watching the host on the couch completely entranced by Lanas raw emotions pouring all over that stage like a glitter bomb just exploded.

I think I've put my finger on why Lana Del Rey is so different and hard to get used to in concert. She doesn't put herself above the audience figuratively speaking. Look at Beyonce or whatever, they're in positions of power, they come out on stage like they own the world. Lana is kind of gutter trash. And it's beautiful. That's why her 'stage' presence in flashy shows doesn't work for me. She's got such an intimate thing. You feel close to her. She's right there with you, maybe even lower than you. In all the lights and distance of the more high end shows you lose touch with her because something like Lana has to be felt and absorbed, not just witnessed, certainly not idolized. I adore her for that. She's get's in there like a bee sting, but only if you're there with her. Okay, I'm done now.

Kind of like a homeless woman/man on the streets begging for food. They express all their emotions and weaknesses for the dollar bill, intimate, or a stripper at a dive club exposing herself to the world. It has go be felt and seen in person, because shes there.... unlike a star who doesnt see you.

Lana Del Rey also has songs about sex??? I love both her and Beyoncé even though they are such different singers. Beyoncé is powerful in the sense that she dominated her field and has a lot of confidence in her signing. However Lana is powerful in how vulnerable she can make you feel. I don't think that women singing about sex makes them a worse artist than their counterparts anyways

That is so true. The first time I saw a live performance of her I just thought That she was just like a regular girl there, her presence, the way she stands, her cute shame for being there, even the way she dresses and holds the microphone, when she looks at the audience... It feels like she's like everyone else there, just enjoying the song.

Every time I see her in a more vulnerable setting, like preforming without tons of screaming fans or just out by herself on the town, I can see this raw and open quality about her that is so very human. There are time when she is not happy, and there is a deep discontent inside of her. Truly a beautiful woman, a great voice for this generation and the emotions it holds.
