Laminate Floor Polish - How to Shine Laminate Floors

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

An easy to use laminate floor polish is the Bona Laminate Floor Polish. It is a water based, non-toxic product. This polish provides a clear shine to improve the look of dull or worn laminate.
You want to clean the floor thoroughly before you apply the polish. Use a pad designed for polish and work in a cross hatch pattern. Allow to dry for 2 hours before walking on the finish. Allow 24 hours before replacing any heavy items.

One trick I learned is that the colder the floor, the shinier the finish. I would turn the heat off and open the doors in winter. SUPER shiny

Bona is amazing stuff. I love it. My only issue with it is that if someone walks on the floor with wet socks or even wet feet, you see the foot prints n it stays there until you wash your floor again

Did it haze up or anything after the first cleaner like a week later or whatever? I had to buy the polisher remover and scrub and remove everything in the floor but I believe it was my mistake I used my steam mop to clean the floor a few years back and it got hazy. I know now you aren’t supposed to use steam to clean laminate floor planks.

I live in a 60 year old home and the great room (kitchen/dinning/living rooms) has the original brick look laminate floor that no matter what I used (including my steam mop) ALWAYS looked like I had not mopped in DECADES. I bought the Bona floor cleaner and polish and put the cleaner in a spray bottle and used my steam mop and that alone made a MAJOR difference....then I used my flat dry mop to apply the polish. So far I have only done the kitchen area (I am doing a month long fall pre-winter close up clean to the entire house---with covid I want to make sure whole house is clean and germ free before closing all doors and windows for the winter) and sitting in my recliner glancing at the kitchen to see if the polish was dry yet and after 1.5 hours was getting frustrated....finally got up and went to check on it and ran my fingers along the quitting edge and it was DRY....the difference between the done and undone floor is the difference between putting a new brick against an old uncleaned brick wall....can't wait for my landlord to see the difference the next time she is here

We've been using this on our laminate floor which is only 2years old. It doesn't bring back the glossy sheen to the floor after we clean the floor first and then apply this. The sheen still isn't restored by this product. The surface is still dull. The floor still needs to be cleaned regularly and this wax product builds up time after time.

You can use a disinfectant cleaner on it. Just add a small amount to a bucket of water and go over it a second time with just a damp mop using plain hot water (or cloth if you're doing it by hand). I clean houses on the side and I haven't had any problems. I just moved and all the floors are older laminate. My husband was saying he wants to polyurethane them, but in the meantime I'm going to keep them polished.

Doris Glenn Hi, I have never tried ZEP polish, but I do like some of their other products. They have a line of commercial cleaners that are rated very high. I would think it will do a good job. Yes you can get Bona at Lowes, if they don't have the polish, they can order it for you. FIX IT Home Improvement Channel DO NOT buy the Zep laminate floor restorer, we had a bad experience with it leaving weird shiny streaks all over our laminate floor that will not come out , even putting several coats, it looks awful...thankfully most of our laminate floor is covered by a big oriental rug and furniture so you cant see the un cleanable mess it left...yeah once its on the floor, you arent getting it off

Hi, always follow the maintenance instructions for your flooring, but for older laminate flooring with a worn top layer a polish like this does a good job. Check out more home improvement tips in our e-books www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B2KW1FQ9?notRedirectToSDP=1&.

Doesn't this process go completely against a laminate floor's manufacturers instructions about not letting excess liquid get into the edges. This seems as if it will seep into the edges and cause the floor to swell and ruin!

  • @FIXITHomeImprovementChannel

Hi, the polish is thicker than water. They want you to do a small area at a time, so it shouldn't have time to seep into the seams. This is the technique that they recommend.

CANNOT wrap my mind around washing the filthy mop in the KITCHEN SINK!! that is SO revolting, disgusting, and unsanitary. With everything we step on, to even THINK of it going into an area where utensils and dishes are is absolutely vomit inducing! I don't care how many times you bleach the sink, you don't mix floor gems with dish germs. Done!
