Lamiglas X-11 Salmon Steelhead Float/Drift Fishing Rod Review/Steelhead Rod Review/Salmon Rod Review

This is a review for my Lamiglas X11 Salmon Steelhead Float/Drift Fishing Rod model number LX90HMSGH I love the Lamiglas X-11 rods. My first time using a Lamiglas X-11 rod was on a guided steelhead trip with A Grand Addiction Guide Service and I fell in love with the Lamiglas X-11 rod right away! I bought mine a few years later and after over a year of use The Lamiglas X-11 Is my favorite rod ive ever owned and I fully intend on buying a few more x-11 rods. I currently also own the x-11 ultralight and love that rod as well. If you are looking for a float fishing rod setup or a good spinner fishing rod or a quality multi purpose fishing rod I highly recommend the Lamiglas X-11. This salmon rod review shows off some of the nice king salmon and coho salmon I have caught with this Lamiglas rod as well as a few nice steelhead I have managed to catch with my Lamiglas x-11 fishing rod. If you are looking for steelhead rod reviews this is one to consider especialy if you are shoping for quality on a budget. this review is for the model number LX90HMSGH but I have used several other models of Lamiglas X-11 rods and They all cast great and fight fish with ease. I would highly recomend trying a lamiglas x-11 fishing rod!
The brand Lamiglas has been a stalwart of fishing rod manufacturing since 1949, continuously designing and building fine fishing tools for anglers. In the salmon, trout and steelhead world, Lamiglas rods are used daily by guides and anglers for technique specific fisheries.
Although Lamiglas has high-end fishing rods in the upper echalon, there is a series that has garnered massive appeal without a big price tag. The X-11.
Best Selling Salmon & Steelhead Rod
Some rods can be purchased for next to nothing these days, but compromises must be made. One of the most appreciated aspects of Lamiglas salmon & steelhead rods is that they do not compromise where it counts, and that goes for the X-11 series as well.
The X-11 series is based off of proven Lamiglas designs for almost every fishery & technique there is. They are firmly placed within the salmon and steelhead world with rods for trolling, anchoring, bank fishing or casting from a boat. With strong, sensitive graphite and new Seaguide components - the X-11 are professional tools within a price range that most anglers can afford.
Newest Updates to the X-11
Gloss Graphite Finish
The classic 'Merlot' color of the X-11 has now been replaced with a gorgeous gloss graphite finish. This graphite gray look brings to mind the high-end look and feel of famous Lamiglas designs, but retains excellent durability with the additional coating. These rods are sensitive and strong.
With the recent introduction of graphite handles to the series, you can now choose between cork or graphite handles. On a personal note, I love the look and feel of the graphite handle, but many anglers love their cork and Lamiglas has given both options to suit everyone.
Seaguide Chrome Guides
High-Tensile Strength w/ Deep-Pressed Ceramic Inserts
Lamiglas has incorporated Seaguide components into many of their rod series and the X-11 is no different. The updated guides are a lightweight and durable option that works well with the braids, flouros and monos used in modern fisheries.

I have two X11s in the 10'6" variety. For two years they've been trailered loosely all over the state in my raft, thrown on banks, snagged in branches of trees I'm floating under, and have fought 30+ large migratory fish. They're still as good as they were new. Highly recommended based on my experience alone.

Bought one this year and loved it until I ran into multiple issues with it. Reel seat came unglued to rod and had to tape it to fix it, as well as having the rod tips eyelet ring fall off during a fight and said tip breaking on another fish. All in all I liked how it performed but the craftsmanship was something I’d expect from Shakespeare, not a lamiglas.

I’ve had some issues with my other lamiglas rods but this one hasn’t let me down. The X11 is still a good bang for the buck although I had to warrantee out my first one because the guide ring poped out first time I used it.

That should be a pretty good set up. I really like my Shimano Nasci spinning reel. A cheaper option would be the Pflueger President or president XT. You could always slap a centerpin Reel on that too ;) if you want to go with the top of the line reasonable real get a diawa tatula 3000

@@ReelMichiganAnglers Thank you for the response. Greatly appreciated. I’ll go with Daiwa Tatula LT 3000, but there are two options TALT3000-CXH and TALT3000D-CXH. Which one would be best ? I guess D stands for bigger braid/line capacity?

@@NMcCauley Good thing you didn't go with the President, I have two of them and both of them have a problem with their reel handle caps falling off. After just four uses I lost both of those reels caps, the fourth time being when I took my nephews fishing and they both lost the reel handle caps of the Presidents that they were using. I don't understand how that reel gets so many good reviews because every time I used those two reels their caps always coming loose and wanting to fall off the reel handles! I went back to the store where I bought those two reels and when I checked out the two President reels that they had on displace both of those reels also had their reel handle caps missing! Apparently, somebody bought one of those reels and when their reel handle caps fell off and went missing they returned to the store to steal the reel handle caps from the store! People may not know this, but a little company that sells their fishing reels through Aliexpress and their own website, sells fishing reels for $40 - $50 that are super high quality to the same level that you would find in a typical Shimano and Daiwa reels! Not just that, but their reels are also lighter than the Shimano reels that I also own. That company is Piscifun. Try the Piscifun Honor XT and you would be surprised at the quality of the reel for the $45 that you spend!

Do you think this rod can lift a 3-4 pound fish over a pier without breaking? I'm looking to buy a rod for surf fishing that could cast light lures as light as 3/8 ounce, but strong enough to cast lures up to 2 ounces. Also, do you think your 9' version could cast up to 80 yards with a good reel and a decently weighted lure?

I bet it would work but feel it would Eventually break. They have the nickname lamisnap for a reason lol. These are good distance casting rods I’ve used mine on the peir for spoons.

@@ReelMichiganAnglers Thanks for your response and input, I appreciate it! I am also looking at the Lamisglas Carbon Surf rod, the 9' medium version as well, but I'm not sure it would cast lures as light as half ounce like it said on the rod because most surf rods that I come across can't live up to the lower rating that they are listed for. That's why I'm checking out steelhead rods because I know they could throw light lures.

  • @ReelMichiganAnglers

I’m a bad judge of distances but I can cast a rapala from the bank to the wall at croton dam (with 20 lb braid) which is probably in the 75+ yard range. I would say it’s capable of long casts for sure not quite surf rod distance but it Can send a half oz pretty far.

@@ReelMichiganAnglers do you have any suggestions on which of the x11 models I should go with? I’m wanting to cast a 1/2oz -1oz egg weight in the 70-100 yard range. All of the places I fish are stocked lakes so the most important thing is distance. In your opinion do you think a moderate or a moderate fast is better for casting distance?

  • @ReelMichiganAnglers

    @ReelMichiganAnglers

@@teamlary I would get the longest most moderate rod that is rated for an ounce. Maybe consider a baitcaster for extra distance too. I think the fast tip adds some snap too. I’m not as knowledgeable about rods as I should be lol but that’s my experience.
