The very clever dual-action "Tumbling Bean" latching device is seen in operation here doing its job exactly correctly. We re-cast the mushroom shaped plastic caps that originally "Snapped" onto the one clamshell side, was cas-in around furrells on the steel axel pin on the other side of pin. By design, the central steel axel shaft is swaged into one arms steel hole, and axel freely rotates on the other. Both plastic clam shells this are "locked" like halves of a yoyo- and do not spin in relation to each other. the one arm is allowed to slip unter one clam shell half, and the other is riged against its arm. The Phillips head screws are our addition to allwow for adjustments and be removeable. The head cavities are easily filled prior to being painted "almond beigh" as originals. The clear Reynolds 202 urethane is far superior to the original thermo-plastic in strength., AND, you can see the action.
