GT3 at the end. The Lambo is cool, but still not at GT3.

I own a 992 GT3K with 6,000M driven so far. My own car is the Komfort model without the half cage (adds weight and rattles) and the 918 fixed carbon buckets (std seats fold forwards to access the luggage void and recline to sleep on a road trip) and I've just driven 2,000M in a friends STO. Thus I feel that I do have something add add to this comparison. The STO is very much a "one trick pony", a track car which is nearly impossible to enjoy in everyday driving. All 911's operative in the triangle between sports cars, GT's and everyday driver. Long term ownership is far cheaper in a 911 than a Lambo. I'm on my 25th 911 in over 45yrs of continuous 911 road and race car ownership. Raced at Le Mans in the late '70's, sports car and hillclimbed too. Still race in Historic. The Lambo remains a poster car and is gorgeous.

On balance, as a small chuckable sports car, the 964RS. I was lucky enough to own 3 X RS. They were had to sell at the time! My last was LHD with much better feel non power assisted steering which was hard in town. Still drove that to SoF from UK and it worked as a GT more or less. Drove the last one 500,000M. Another car I should not have sold!

I've always wanted a GT3, but I can't stop looking at that STO!

I love the spec on the STO. The Italian flags on the front lip and the rear diffuser are a beautiful touch!!

comparing the STO to a GT3 before the RS comes out seems a bit odd if we're really talking "flagship track specials" as they are here. I get it, the STO is new and they need content, but it's just not really a comparison to make here. These cars are just too different. That being said, it still is quality content. Amazing cinematography and commentary on each car in a very cool setting.

How good is Ben Collins as a car reviewer! He seems so natural, so informative and he genuinely knows what he is talking about, especially vehicle dynamics.

When you take into account on-track reliability, along with depreciation and maintenance costs, the GT3 becomes a no brainer, as evidence by how many you see in the Nürburgring car park, on pretty much any given day…

@PYXB3 No other car that I’ve ever driven on track feels as good as a GT3 at speed, even below 8000 RPM 😉! They literally feel like they’re developed to excel at this alone, and do so consistently and reliably. Ultimately, it depends on what your objective is, to look good, or to be good. Looks are obviously subjective, but the latter not so much.

@PYXB3 interior on the GT3 is really nice 👍. The huracon inside is outdated. The infotainment in the Porsche is waay more updated. The hurcan has nothing for infotainment. Does it? I don’t remember

@PYXB3 drove as passenger on track in 911 996 GT3 RSR on race track in light wet conditions with wet slicks. Car had mental sound in all rpm range with stripped out interior and amount of grip it could hold in wet was unbelievable, definitely felt aero working. Very nimble in slow turns (only 1100 kg dry) and quite brutal until 170-180~ kmh (455 HP). Can't imagine much better racecar (except of F1/LMP/GT3 class cars). Corners attack you quicker than you think about them.

I am a Porsche fan at heart, but, in terms of reliability, I think the Huracan wins. The Huracan/R8 platform is just absolutely bulletproof. There are countless twin turbo Huracans stateside being absolutely thrashed daily without fault on the stock motor. Undoubtedly impressive. GT3 takes it in every other category, though. ;)

I'm with Ben on the Spec of the GT3. Standard spec no Clubsport pack and the Standard comfier Super Sports Seats. Ideal for daily driving.

Yup, in the last couple of years I've started to think that a flat 6 sounds pretty much as good as a V10 too...so the GT3 in that spec sounds pretty much perfect. Would still need something with less road noise for longer journeys but that's fine.

"They Say" Content like this makes SCD membership worth every penny. Well done guy's ... Oh btw I'd take the GT3

Great balanced review enjoyed it. I have a 991 GT3 RS and had the pleasure of a drive out with the owner of that very STO along with other super cars last weekend and it is mightily impressive. The looks the sound and following it my beetle kept up no problem and perhaps like the Stig says I had more grip🤔 Thanks for the stone 🍟 and look forward to the next run out 💪

Amazing video. I’m on my second 992 GT3 manual now, and absolutely love them. Current one is a ‘23 GT3 MR, which takes a stellar car and sharpens it up a bit more. Love the 992 GT3s!

Really great job! Would love to see STO vs Pista vs 765LT vs GT3 RS next!

Your last line, "...until we run out of fuel" is the greatest compliment I think one could give to any car meant to be enjoyed on the road or track. Having such a good time behind the wheel of a car that the chime and light of a low fuel warning is what makes you actually stop driving is the biggest indicator of how good a car is in my opinion. I haven't had the pleasure of driving any GT3 or Huracan, but that happened to me often in my 997 C2S. Outstanding video guys and I'm looking forward to the next one. Sidenote, I would choose the Porsche over the Lambo, but I think both are great automobiles.

Maybe I am living on the Moon and don’t know it but this is the first time I have seen a Ben Collins car review. he is super and a natural. I saw him yesterday on Drivetribe and again his on screen persona resonates with car enthusiast. Down to earth, matter of fact, precise and engaging. Good stuff.

There's something in the simplicity and the elegance of the GT3 that makes it irresistible. The lambo looks like a complex monster even though it must be fantastic to drive.

Double wishbone setups inherently allow a bit more grip to a McPherson strut setup. That’s a big reason of why they were able to dial out some understeer. Not sure if there’s more tire up front or how general tires compare between this and the last gt3.

2 beautiful machines and I love how passionate Roger is about the GT3. In my opinion the Lambo STO is more special than just a normal GT3 but I love porsche since my childhood so I'd always go for those magnificant cars from Stuttgart.

Can’t say the road specifically so the police can’t ruin it but it’s near Bala.

Very nicely done. I'm a former GT3 owner and not a Lambo guy, but this STO would make the choice harder than I expected. I realize the 992 RS isn't out yet but that would obviously will be a more apples to apples comparison since the RS is the ultimate stripped down track variant which seems to be what this STO is.

Savage cars and savage video lads ✌️👏 Thinking the 992GT3RS would be the ultimate rival to the STO when it arrives? Unreal comparison here still!

I would have to agree with you on the GT3 bucket seats, would be nice if they could make the same seat with back adjustability so that I could recline it just a bit for freeway driving etc.

The reason we love Italian supercars is primarily because they are low grip - which means at slow speeds they are fun and at high speeds they are thrilling (if dangerous). 4WD Lambos are for lap times. Fair enough. Huracans largely feel like track cars. They are incredibly stiff and bottom out at will. The GT3 (and Ferrari V8s from the previous non turbo era) is made to do both. If anything they are road cars that can also track. This is why they are so loved. As an F430 owner, I feel like I have the best of every world. That is: a fundamentally low grip, high stakes, high fun, high thrill road car that couldn't care less about lap times.

@@scd true true but you must have to be careful with the bottom of it surely?? Can't imagine STO splitters are a joy to replace? 🤕 It's a struggle to keep the 430 from slamming into the tarmac and she's got quite a lot of clearance!

Love both of these cars and thanks for the video but if it was my money I would get the GT4 RS

Considering the price differential I'd have the GT3 of course, even though the STO is stunning. Nice episode guys, would have loved to see some laps and lap times to go with this too. Next video?

The GT3 is a road car for the track. I'd say, on the contrary, that the STO is a "track car for the road" but that's not quite right. It's a track car for the track. That's the difference. We'll see if the GT3RS will have more of the STO's rawness and excitement, but between these two, I'd take the STO all day. Great review, gentlemen.
