Not from New York, but New York has famously aggressive drivers and famously aggressive people. However, if you're one of them or at least capable of dishing out as much as your given, you earn a sort of mutual understanding that as long as you dont do something disrespectful then life goes on as usual.

Driving here is impossible. You have to have so much patience. But most here don’t have cars. It’s actually great when everything is within walking distance from you
