In 1980 Bertone created this futuristic concept car for the 1980 Turin Motor Show. The name "Athon" comes from an ancient Egyptian sun god, which means something like "Hymn to the Sun", and it was appropriate as the car was a spider, completely devoid of a top and intended as a fair-weather car.
It is based on the Lamborghini Silhouette P300 (which was based on the Lamborghini Urraco) and it features a 3.0-litre V8 engine with 260 bhp.
Bertone kept the Athon for their private collection and sometimes lent it out for public display at shows. In 2011 it was offered for sale at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on 21 May by 2011 by RM Auctions and it was sold for €347,200.
In this video you can see the car in detail and than hear the sound of the Lamborghini V8 engine doing a fast and smooth warm-up.

That's a very 80-ish future :D

My car has one but it's touch screen
I'm madly in love with this weird little car
Looks like car that would be in Cyberpunk 2077, I love it
I have been a huge fan of the Athon since I was a kid, and I am SUPER jealous that you got to see and hear it in person!!
Beautiful machine, way ahead of it's time, a piece of art, a masterpiece. Designer Giuseppe Bertone.
The most 80s car i've ever seen in my whole life
Absolute beauty! It’s a shame today’s cars have lost the magic of cars produced in the 70s,80s,90s.
This is the type of car that I Imagined driving in the future that we live in today. Its a shame we did not get this style future instead of the weird lines and bubbles style design we have today.
So retro. I love it.
Its like if the 80s ate everything from the 80s and then puked.
The car of the future.
The synthwave car
Great to see the Athon actually in use and being driven. I was at Stile Bertone in Caprie in the early '90's and it was stored away and almost forgotten.......
I love that steering wheel and the column it is attached to.
that is hands down THE BEST looking car ive ever seen. no joke. total vaporwave asthetic.
Man, the 80s were great!
This car couldn't be more 80's futuristic looking. I like it, and the engine sounds nice
i bet this car can fly.
Wonderful car, scenery, and video! I just love how 80's it is
Glad to see these concept cars being driven and not crushed. Bravo Bozzy!!!!
I'm always discovering new cars on your channel. And every video is great at showing them, keep it up!
I firmly believe that if Lamborghini had actually put the Athon into production, it would've become the most iconic 80's car ever made. The DeLorean would've lost it's throne to this quirky, gorgeous, asymetrical slab of Italian design.
Does it weigh athon?

The interior of the car is so beautiful and the colour also is beautiful.
Lamborghini's motto, The future was yesterday. I love it.
This is just beautiful
wow - the nicest sounding electric car ever!
Transverse V8. So cooooool
thanks for the vid!! thats a really nice mini cooper at the beginning
This Lamborghini Athon is gorgeous 😍
The interior is gorgeous and simplistic
Los locos 80s hehe que grandes concept cars y que avanzados eran y algunos a día de hoy siguen siendo chulisimos como este. Por cierto ese V8 que bien suena, me encanta :)
What a stunning car!
Aaaah 80's concept cars. They must have all been high from sniffing glue during that decade lol.

In 20 years, the next generation will be saying the same thing about the designs of the current concepts and car designs now. In the 80's this was a spaceship on the streets

80s wasn't the drug and hippy decade which is what a lot of dumb millennials think... It was the 60s which was another awesome part in history!

"Yeah! Derrrrr 'cuz that thing is SILLY!" Too bad the teasing from anybody about a car from a different decide only makes that person seem simple-minded, or high themselves. If they can't understand that car was made with only the experience from cars that came before it and the technology of the time, than they can't be helped. Even with that ridiculous attitude of criticizing a time period, this car actually still looks good today. That's the joke on those making fun of it. It's almost like anyone too young to understand or not willing to think past their own little cushy world of the present, is making fun of other times simply because they think that's what they're supposed to do. Come to think of it, I don't know what can cause that kind of stupidity since I and most people I know my age or older did NOT make fun of cars of the past or people's ideas simply because they were from some assumed wacky time period. Must be that shallow, flippant attitude developing during the age of the internet where everyone now gets a chance to be a pseudo expert without doing any of the work.
looks so comfy man
pretty cool =) nice interior
Video perfetto bravo !!
Epic!!
Úžasná studie vozidla LAMBORGHINI ATHON , když jsem mu dal palec nahoru a hrozně rád jsem si poslechl motor.
wonderful car
This would fit in CyberPunk. Great car!
DOPE !!!
I love this car! It just looks so weird and odd. It's a shame we can't have cars like this today.
that back profile is amazing
I love it.
really cool car. This car is full of character, not like the generic cars of today. Obviously the look is dated, but it some has ideas which are really interesting and should be explored today
Ultra Power.
I love it
I actually like that dash, showing the engine rpm - traveling speed diagram :D
That's the most 80s retro cyberpunk car I've ever seen, I want one now
So beast

Giusta x ritorno al futuro.
I like it. The design is very clean, so different than today cars wich looks like have a lot of bumps un the body.
19Bozzy92, your spaceship presenting channel Nr. 1, now with a NASA cooperation.
Dunno why....but I like it. 😃
that's so futuristic I would give everything to own this car
Shared on my page :) (not stolen, but direct link shared)
the best car of Bertone
looks kinda like the Vector W8 I think in the rear
The 80's had a better future than ours
What an amazing car! Would love to see it stateside, perhaps Mr. Daddy @dougdemuro could review it
Lamborghini, please bring out an updated version of the Athon, this time fully electric and with a graphics calculator 🤭
Those exhaust tips are way ahead of their time.
This is the ultimate Cyberpunk car
When I saw this Lamborghini, I thought of Cyberpunk 2077 right away. ❤️😊
This shit is fire! I wish this model to be converted into more modern machine and keep the design while improving some features.
Wow!!! Just imagine if Robocop was to drive it as his personal car!!! And the Jalpa's OHC V8 sounds excellent!!! But I wonder if the widescreen graphics are functional!!!
Straight out of Cyberpunk 2077!
The wonderfulls 80s
bello!
it's like if one travelled back in time to the eighties, compressed the entire universe in to a couple of cubic meters and made a car out of it :)
Looks like a car from Robocop jaja

Aesthetically, this car still looks like something from a cyberpunk AI future.
i do believe the calculator is a old phone looks hand free even. super high tech there
My god it's SO 80's in every way
ITS......TIME TO START.....RRRRRRRRUNNNNNING.....(IN A Richard Dawson voice)
Wow cyberpunk vibe
PURE 80'S
i was gonna come pick you up, but i had to stop over and take out some replicants first
Back to the 80s.
Bet pressing the horn just makes it yell “RUBBER BABY BUGGY BAMPAHS”
Looks like a speedboat. Wonder how big is the live well.
Doug Demuro would walk on his nose to review this.
I wonder why old concept cars are so futuristic?🤔
I believe Rita and Albert Spiess are the current owners. They have quite a collection.
All I can say is YGG
Steering wheel and stalks inspired by Citroen of the era. Dashboard calculator courtesy of Casio!
Total recall style
Oh yeah cause I REAAAAALLY needed a calculator front and center while I'm driving... you know... in case I'm rushing to math class and need to get these homework problems worked out on the fly.
I feel like you should be wearing neon jazzercise outits while driving this car.
I wouldn't be surprised to see He-Man riding on one of these
It looks like a prop from a futuristic movie.
Se questa auto è unica , la tizia che la guida chi è? Per possedere 1 prototipo.
What the fuck ? This is so so cool looking car, i didn't knew about this car. I don't know what to comment.
