LAMBDA Function in Excel (CUSTOM Excel Formulas 😮)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Create custom Excel formulas with the LAMBDA function in Excel.
Will you be using LAMBDA functions?
Let me know in the comments ✍️
The Excel LAMBDA function allows you to easily create custom functions for complex formulas or functions that are not currently available in Excel. These can then be shared with other workbooks.

Will do. Thank you.
Hi Alan, I am happy to see this video! I hope more will follow, maybe-as another subscriber suggested-you can follow up by making more videos particularly on "lambda helpers" and especially on AFE which I see you have installed on your Excel. AFE is an excellent tool for writing LAMDA functions and being able to easily transfer them to other worksheets
Thanks, great video again. Paul

Thank you 😊
Great video and it doesn’t look too complicated. My worry is that, I use it in a workbook that is also used by others and they have difficulties understanding what that function is doing!
Hi Alan, very cool use of ISOMITTED. In your first iteration of the function you can enter multiple delimiters like {".","/"} without creating an optional argument in the function.

Thanks for the tip, Lester 👍🏼🔥 I guess that remains an option for those that want that approach. Similar to use of arrays in functions such as CHOOSECOLS instead of using the separate arguments.
Really useful video!

Thank you Alan, I hope you are going to prepare a video about another Lambda helper Functions (Map, Scan, Reduce, ByRow, ByColumn etc.)

Thank you. I have a video on BYROW and BYCOL already (kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZWl_ya6LesvKaLQ.html), but not on the others, yet 🙂
Great tips...Useful. Thank you Alan!

'Just for fun' - I love that! Thank you for your comments.
Love it! Pleased please make a video with a number of samples, from basic to more advanced. Would be great. I have always wanted to use Lambda but have always been wary and scared of using it. The first time I saw one, I think I got such a fright and just switched off. Greetings from South Africa.

Very welcome. Thank you 🙂
Dear Alan, I saw you dragging the formula to other cells, but LAMBDA accepts the range selection and spills the results. 🤗

Brilliant as always! Thanks Alan . I learnt the tips of using optional parameter in lamda and shifting Lamda function to a different workbook. Very useful 👍

Fantastic! Thank you, Kebin. Your comments are much appreciated 🙂
Excellent explanation, Alan. In fact, it is a very good example, because it also explains how ISOMITTED works, a practically forgotten function. Thanks for sharing.

Most welcome 😊 Thank you so much.
LAMBDAs are so powerful and Microsoft has made many improvements to them already I’m surprised there isn’t a TEXTBETWEEN function given they have added other delimited text functions I have several LAMBDAs including some for common conditional formatting, a more robust formulatext that also shows the reference, and some for data validation

Excellent! Thanks for sharing Patrick 🙂 Good ideas around the Conditional Formatting and enhanced FORMULATEXT 👍🏼
What if I don't have the LAMBDA function in Excel?
@Computergaga

LAMBDA is only available in Excel 365. It is available in Excel Online if you want to play with it.
Very well explained Allan ! I do not use it often but I created (after seeing Mike Girvins video) this formula : =LAMBDA(reference;IFERROR(TOCOL(ADDRESS(ROW(reference);COLUMN(reference);4)&" : "&FORMULATEXT(reference);2);"no formulas in range")) I altered my book.xlst file so I always have it available. But it took me quit some time to actually update the right book.xlst file. Greetings Bart
