Lamb of God's Mark Morton: 5 Riffs I'm Most Proud Of
Музыка
In the premiere episode of “5 Riffs I’m Most Proud Of” - in which guitarists discuss the five favorite riffs they’ve ever written - Lamb of God axman Mark Morton (whose debut solo record, 'Anesthetic,' drops on March 1st via Spinefarm Records) tells us the origin stories of the riffs he’s most proud of, from "Cross Off" to "Descending." “It’s a tough crowd there, in the Lamb of God writing sessions,” Morton reveals. “‘Descending’ was a big stinker at the beginning that caused problems. [Laughs] So now whenever we play it live, I take a certain unique sense of pride in seeing the front row singing it all back to us because I’m like, ‘See? I told you guys this was a banger.’” Watch the video to find out the rest of his picks.

So many kick ass riffs, I love the main riff from "To the end" off resolution.
Descending has always been a favorite of mine. I went through a very dark chapter in my life where I attempted to end myself through alcohol and it was basically my self-proclaimed theme song. It is very deep and dark and off-kilter for them as a band.

Really take a step back and think about the amount of musical and artistic talent present in Lamb of God, yes even with Art who's a beast on the sticks.
Really loved his playing style, His riffs are Amazing.
Not sure what classifications define a riff for Mark and what makes one better than the other (he's ingenious, imo, like a new age Toni Iommi), but I absolutely love his guitar playing in Subtle Arts and they killed it on Killadelphia. That breakdown at the end is their heaviest riff, imo.

Great video. One of my favorites has always been the end of “A Warning”. I’ve always thought the staccato rhythm that builds up step by step and then reverses itself was particularly clever. Plus the cowbell. Oh that cowbell... finally get to see you at Rockville this year!
Remorse is for the dead is always a favorite
I'm getting goosebumps everytime I hear mark 🤘😊
Mark Morton is just a mad scientist with the guitar. That’s was got me into Lamb of God. I was almost* as blown away by them as I was when I first heard Pantera.
Bro you are I favorite guitarist lamb of god is great and just thank you
i honestly LOVED listening to Descending, its actually the first riff that got me INTO Lamb Of God in the first place! It was in my top 3 songs for the band as a whole..... Walk With Me In Hell, Descending, Blacken The Cursed Sun..... playing those 3 songs on guitar was part of my daily warmup routine. Those three songs covered everything I needed to use for warmups, so once I could play all three back to back that I was properly warmed up. You have to have perfect sync between the fretting and picking to get it just right.....
So glad descending is on this. My favorite LOG song hands down

I'm a huge fan of Lamb Of God, but I totally admire Mark Morton, he always comes out with the most brillant riffs & solos of metal nowdays. Mark do what you love Man, and tell the rest of the band, that you are the greatest fucking metal band today!!! "L.O.G." Thank you for all your music, I enjoy it throughly!!! 😎👍
I am proud to have the exact same taste as M. Mark Morton, those are also my favourite riffs from LoG (along with the starting one from Embers).
Imagine being so good at guitar that a riff you were just using to warm up with turns into one of your band’s top 5 songs.
Mark is the most important part of Lamb of God. The band would lose sooooo much without his songwriting.

As the palaces burn album is my favorite. Ashes of the wake and sacrament are great too, but As the Palaces Burn is very unique in it's riffs and lyrics content. I love As the palaces burn, ruin, Vigil, and Boot Scraper so much. The express a sort of under class rage that is so relatable right now. I mean that rage has always been relatable in any class society, but I think a lot of working class people could listen to Boot Scraper for instance and be like, hey maybe it is time to turn and bite that hand that's bleeding us dry. Vigil is a supreme expression of this in my view. That section "Sickness to you my master!" gives me chills to this day. So powerful and radical.
Wow Mark Morton is so wholesome
